Timewarp Announces 2015 Mannheim Lineup

Timewarp, one of the most monumental festival brands, has recently announced their lineup for 2015 in Mannheim, Germany. The German mega-festival will commence Sunday April 5th at 8:00pm and continue well into Monday afternoon.

Timewarp appears to be sticking with the cast of usual suspects that has brought them success over their long history. Many Timewarp residents such as Sven VƤth and Pan Pot make their return, with several fresh additions that stand out on the 2015 edition. Audion [Live] and Dubfire’s Live Hybrid performances should be highly anticipated, especially at a festival that caters to all aspects of the audio and visual performance.

Mannheim is where it all began for Timewarp, making each and every year a special moment for the city and for those who travel to experience the festival. If the lineup or overall aura surrounding Timewarp isn’t convincing, perhaps take a look at the 2014 Aftermovie below.Ā This year will be another strong edition with a phenomenal selection of artists.

For the full Timewarp lineup you can visit their Facebook or Official Site. They also have a great section on packages and travel for those interested in making the pilgrimage to Mannheim this April.

Coachella 2015 Lineup

coachella flyer

The time of year has come where Coachella announces their lineup for the massive festival in Indio, California taking place the second and third weekend of April. Throughout the years the festival has become notorious for booking serious talent from all areas of the music spectrum. This year we really see that range being put to the test with artists on the bill ranging from AC/DC to Ben Klock. The amazing thing about Coachella is the variety when it comes to the music (on paper at least, can’t speak about the crowds because I am still yet to attend). But the point is you can go from seeing groups like Bad Religion or Steely Dan to Tale of Us and Danny Tenaglia. That’s variety that not many festivals can achieve.

The festival succeeds at delivering a healthy and eclectic lineup, but this year is one that all the dance fanatics surely will appreciate. The list of dance artists is rather impressive including but not limited to artists such as: Loco Dice, DJ Harvey, Carl Craig, Tini, Dubfire, and Claude Von Stroke. This doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of the talented dance artists on the lineup, but it is a solid start. Take a look at this enlarged flyer and see if you can pick out some of the other epic names that will be in attendance.

spaceman_floatingThe music is always the focal point, but like many festivals these days there is so much more to offer to give the attendees a full and satisfying experience. Festivals such as EDC, Wonderfruit, Kazantip, etc all branch out into other forms of entertainment that help set them above the rest. Staying true to that, Coachella will continue to host an array of installations that are true works of art. Giant robot sculptures, bizarre architecture, and vibrant light installations were among some of the highlights last year. Expect nothing less in 2015 out in the serene landscape of Indio.

Per usual, general admission tickets have sold out, but there are still VIP packages and general admission with parking passes for those who are truly craving the Coachella experience. For those interested in buying a ticket you can head over to the Coachella page, or I’m sure you’ll be able to find someone in the community selling one of their weekend passes.

Overall it looks like another very promising year for the Coachella team and all the attendees throughout the two weekend extravaganza. Between the art and world class music everyone should be in for quite a treat, and we’ll be eager to hear the reviews from Weekend 1 attendees. It’s that time of year again, and festival season will soon be upon us.

Field Trip Series: Wonderfruit Festival, Thailand

Rabbit Art

For this weeks Field Trip feature we travel (figuratively of course) across the world to Thailand for Wonderfruit Festival. But this isn’t your ordinary music festival. To be honest, it would almost be insulting to pin this down as just a music festival. Wonderfruit is a celebration of art, architecture, film, health, sustainability, and of course music. The three day festival will be taking place this weekend in Pattaya Thailand, and will showcase talent from a variety of genres. There are a tremendous amount of great live bands, but for the electronic fans they’re in for quite a treat.

In the months leading up to Wonderfruit Festival they’ve added heavy hitters such as Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Subb-an, Francesca Lombardo, Damian Lazarus, and many more notable industry names. So from an electronic music standpoint they’re obviously in good hands, but again this festival is so much more than just music. Wonderfruit strives on a collective experience that fosters creativity, health, and self-expression.

Soi StageOn their website they state that they are dedicated to practicing sustainability, and are taking many efforts to ensure that they follow through with their ethos. To exemplify this, look no further than Shrine On, one of the artists that will be designing the SOI Stage. The image to the left is one of his previous installations. His description on the site explains that he ā€œis arriving at the festival site before anyone to single-handedly build his land structure from found objects and reclaimed materials around Chonburiā€. Sustainable architecture to build a beautiful enclosure for one of the stages sounds like a great start in achieving their goals.

It doesn’t stop there though. Wonderfruit Festival encompasses so many different areas of life that I’d find it difficult to fully experience everything. However, that being said, it is a true testament to how special this weekend will be for the attendees. Wander into the lotus garden for a massage and meditation, or perhaps take a mountain bike ride through the beautiful landscape of Thailand. See what I mean about being more than a music festival? Wonderfruit is a festival of life and living it to the fullest. I would normally say that the music is always first, but Wonderfruit proves me wrong. In this case, the music is only a lovely compliment to a beautiful weekend experience in the beautiful country of Thailand.

But don’t get me wrong…after a day of hiking, boating, or visiting the festivals flee market…dancing the night away to the sounds of Francesca Lombardo and Subb-an sounds like a perfect way to continue the experience. Damian Lazarus also seems like he’ll be right at home in his element. From the temples in Mexico to the lush landscape of Thailand he’s certain to bring an eclectic mix of deep and spiritual dance tracks. Lovers’ Eyes seems to be appropriate for the occasion.

So much can be said about Wonderfruit Festival. Many festivals claim to be all about ā€œinnovative ideasā€ or ā€œthe headlinerā€ and talk of being a unique experience, but at the end of the day they still just feel like music festivals. Wonderfruit appears to deviate from that, and looks like it will truly be the experience of a lifetime. To anyone in Thailand or in surrounding countries, this is a weekend not to be missed.

Obviously we can’t cover everything about the festival. It’s just so expansive, so for the comprehensive list of information head on over to their awesome website. How much is a flight to Thailand again?
