Organized by 19-year-old Jungle and Drum and Bass DJ Jolie (Missy P), SexyLadyMassive was the first female-only rave event in London.
SexyLadyMassive (SLM) started in late 2021 when Jolie decided it is time for girls to be able to enjoy the rave scene without the fear of being sexually harassed by men.
Experimental artist and composer Mira Calix has passed away. Warp Records, the label which released the majority of her music and where she previously worked as a press officer, announced her death on social media, writing: “Mira was not only a hugely talented artist and composer, she was also a beautiful, caring human who touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of working with her.
A new survey has found that 98% of female artists suffer from performance anxiety, with many citing their gender as the issue.
The survey, which was conducted by Pirate Studios, found that female artists were 28% more likely to experience performance anxiety than their male counterparts – and also saw that many cited their gender as the reason for feeling this.
female:pressure has released its FACTS 2022 survey, looking at the gender balance of electronic music festival lineups. First published in 2013, this year marks the fifth edition of the study, which was updated in 2015, 2017 and 2020. In order to collect the results, members of female:pressure and festival organizers looked at 159 editions of 109 unique festivals that took place between 2020 and 2021.
