Premiere: Listen to Ludvig FranzĂ©n’s “Lie” on Clouded House

The latest chapter in the Clouded House story is a three-tracker that again displays why the label is quickly earning a reputation for impressive house and techno cuts. Fresh from a run of sell-out Prince edits, ‘Sthlm 4ever’ (an ode to the little known rave scene of Stockholm, Sweden) features three deep tracks with label head Lukas Lyrestam contributing one effort as well as enlisting the services of fellow up-and-comers Gideon Forceman and Ludvig Franzen.

Opening up matters is the brilliantly funky “Little Bit.” Full of clever, sun-kissed guitar chords and off-kilter FM bass, it moves along at a breezy pace that emphasizes the label’s penchant for the carefree side of the electronic music spectrum.

Next up is Gideon Forceman’s “Listen Up.” A hazy number that glides along at a gentle, rolling pace, it soon picks up momentum and unfurls amongst a bed of glistening synths. An almost effortlessly positive number, this one is sure to leave dancers smiling towards the tail-end of the night.

Culminating the EP is Ludvig FranzĂ©n, who pops up with “Lie”, a clever effort that merges a fair dose of atmosphere and suspense with a unique take on an infamous vocal sample. We are proud to premiere this track for you today, which you can listen to in full below.

With each track boasting its own inimitable charm, Clouded House’s fifth installment is another fine contribution to an already impressive discography – Dusty grooves, raw cuts and hazy nostalgia on a frosty blue vinyl from the land of ice and snow!

Premiere: Listen to “Rene” from Dubrovnik (UK) on 22 Digit Records

Following a release from Alland Byallo the new 22 Digit Records release is from Dubrovnik (UK), a fresh new talent based in the Scottish city of Glasgow.

Dubrovnik (UK) appears after a release on Flashmob’s self-titled label and this is only his third official release. Complimenting the two originals on this release is a remix from Reset Robot.

Reset Robot is famed for his seminal releases on Adam Beyer’s label Truesoul and Sven VĂ€th’s Cocoon, plus a recent debut EP on Anja Schneider’s imprint Mobilee. Not just a solo producer Reset Robot also regularly collaborates with Alan Fitzpatrick under the alias of Customer.

“Rene” is led by a thick lead pad which glides through the track’s stripped back percussion to provide its driving force. Chic in every sense of the word, this is a fine example of how less can so often be so much more. The structure is Techno influenced, but the style of the groove is more commonly associated with House music, making this dancefloor track the perfect hybrid.

Reset Robot’s remix of “Rene” keeps the originals minimalistic but adds his own subtle melody to replace the originals dominant lead synth. Building with complexity as the track develops, he adds sounds which create a more spacious sense of atmosphere. Deeper and more abstract than some might expect from Reset Robot, this intelligent remix shows off his versatility as a producer.

“Block” has a tough groove lead by a dominant kick drum and prominent clap sample. Murky and mysterious, a muffled synth stab and textured FX lay a foundation for the fragile melody to sit. Driven by the rich stabs of the polished lead sound, this club friendly track is the pinnacle of sophistication.

Tracklist:

01. Rene
02. Rene (Reset Robot Remix)
03. Block

Premiere: Listen to Tomoki Tamura’s “5ive Years” on Holic Trax

Following on from two huge EPs by Mr G as well a joint effort from Satoshi Tommie & Tuccilo, Holic Trax’s latest arrives from label owner and all-round top producer, Tomoki Tamura. The final installment in the label’s 5 year anniversary package, HT25 sees Tomoki return to what he does best: producing a slew of deep and banging tracks, each of which comes with its own unique dance floor sensibilities.

Opening up the EP is the sounds of the appropriately named “5ive Years”. A techno workout that’s notable for its off-kilter motifs and a stubborn, industrial feel, it’s full of glowing vibes that are best suited to the big room. Unforgiving and full of atmosphere, it’s the sign of a producer who clearly knows his way around the mixing deck. “Polyphonic Six” displays the producer’s more introspective sound thanks to a melancholic perspective that’s paired with a fierce kick.

Q&A and Premiere: Chicago’s Vested To Release Emod’s “Videogame Warfare” EP

Keeping true and parallel to the musical vision of Vested as a Chicago-based music and event brand, Vested Recordings is the home of a range of forward-thinking electronic music sounds, ranging from deep to tech-house to progressive to techno to house, with the common thread being the timeless low-end prime-mover groove that proper progressive house has always championed.

Vested’s second outing offers a compelling contrast to the label’s first release, a two track EP by 17 year-old German “wonderkid” Emod that fuses techno grooves and percussion garnished with progressive house melodic elements and textures. Inspiring creative elements give each of the two tracks their own distinct themes and moods, and are great selections to play during a music-forward peak hour DJ set. The title track, “Videogame Warfare”, features clever use of NES videogame samples giving the track a retro flavor with killer energy, while “Ablaze” features a higher tempo and sounds reminiscent in tribute of classic techno, while both compelling the listener’s attention with a cutting edge sound of “now”.

Enjoy a premiere of the full EP and read on for an in-depth interview with DJ, producer, party curator and Vested label founder RJ Pickens.

Q&A and Premiere: Circular Vector Patterns Releases “Be” EP on Darko Esser’s Wolfskuil Limited

After DJ Red’s successful “Raw Cacao” EP last year, that included a remix by the mighty Ricardo Villalobos, Darko Esser’s Wolfskuil Limited now presents a solid four-tracker from the Dutch newcomer Circular Vector Patterns.

“Be” inaugurates the A-Side with a mellow opening, gradually evolving to a more upbeat club pulse, a dynamic combination, followed on the B-Side by “Dawn”, a track which delivers rhythmic beats, balanced with a placid sensation. “Eclipse” reveals its mysterious morphing pads, reflecting the artist’s spaced-out facet & the EP’s digital bonus track, “Total Bliss” concludes this sonic exploration with a more settled groove, yet perfect to move any dance floor. A very promising debut from Circular Vector Patterns, who combines moody atmospheres & flowless production throughout the EP.
