With the recent news that the European Union will likely welcome vaccinated Americans and allow citizens of EU member states to travel between their borders this summer, dance music fans are setting their sights on festivals in Europe. The status of festivals within Europe is a mixed bag. England just announced lockdown restrictions will be delayed by four weeks. However, several festival organizers in certain countries such as The Netherlands are deciding to move forward hosting their events this year either during their normal dates or with re-scheduled dates, while organizers in other countries made the call to postpone their festivities until 2022. The powerhouse dance music festival brand DGTL makes its way to Parc del Forum for their 5th edition in Barcelona, Spain on August 23rd and 24th. The electronic dance, star-studded lineup comprises international DJ headliners, Marco Carola, Jeff Mills, Tale of Us and more. As well as live performances from Stephan Bodzin and Satori. The fun-filled weekend consists of dueling DJ sets from Tiga b2b with Dubfire, Roman Flugal b2b with Barnt, and Recondite b2b Marcus Worgull to name a few. The 50 artists showcase features both local artists and legendary dance heavy hitters, 4 stages and variety of Avant-grade art installations and emphasis on environmental sustainability.

In this year’s edition, the festival seeks to improve sound quality and overall experience. According to their latest press release:

“DGTL will also reformulate the floor plan on its 5th edition. Thus, some stages will be relocated to ensure better sound isolation and clarity.”

Carl Craig & Cassy, RÞdhÄd and Maceo Plex Billed for DGTL Barcelona 2018

DGTL Barcelona has reinforced its legacy as a timeless dance music event, announcing a lineup simultaneously forward thinking and tradition. The event returns to Parc Del FĂČrum from August 10th-11th and showcases some of the brightest-shining international talent that the house and techno genres have to offer.

Topping the techno portion of DGTL Barcelona 2018’s bill are such heavyweights as Amelie, Maceo Plex and Oscar Mulero. Hard techno bookings like Dax J and RĂždhĂ„d provide draw for fans of the genre’s more obscure side, while second-wave Detroit techno will be represented by Carl Craig & Cassy.

Closer to the house end of the spectrum are mainstays like Solomun, KiNK, Hot Since 82 and Jamie Jones. Adriatique, Apollonia and DJ Tennis will mesmerize music lovers with their each of their respective brands of progressive house, while Bambouno and Maher Daniel will entertain with deeper aural offerings.

DGTL Barcelona Reveals Extended 2017 Lineup

With DGTL Amsterdam less than a month away, the brand has decided to reveal its extended 2017 programming for its return to the Catalan Capital of Barcelona.

A roster of over 60 artists spread across four separate stages will bring the industrial concept of DGTL back to the Spanish city for the third year in a row, adding Tale of Us, Adriatique, Jackmaster, DVS1, Paco Osuna next to the likes of previously announced Jeff Mills, Solomun and Recondite [live] on the bill of DGTL Barcelona 2017.

The DGTL Revolution: Leading The Way In Festival Sustainability

Born in Amsterdam as a two-day festival, DGTL has quickly expanded with editions now taking place in Barcelona and São Paolo in Brazil, as well as hosted curated showcases during ADE.

Music Monday: Listen to Âme Go Back-To-Back With RØDHÅD at DGTL Barcelona

 

Musically speaking, many were intrigued when they saw Tale Of Us’ Afterlife party booked Âme and RØDHÅD for a back-to-back performance during this past Amsterdam Dance Event.

Innervisions’ Âme are better known for their transcendental soundscapes, often incorporating deconstructed orchestral instrumentation, vintage synth tones and intriguing vocal samples. RØDHÅD’s name, on the other hand, has become synonymous with the deeper, powerful and more melancholic sounds of techno.
