Dreams Becoming Reality With Luuk Van Dijk
Bringing life to Amsterdamâs nightlife scene is Holland DJ Luuk van Dijk, the international DJ that always brings his infectious take on spirited house music inside and outside the studio. Since culminating his craft for countless hours at the age of 15, attending the Herman Brood Academy to further his musical vision and skills, and having artistic parents that pushed him to follow his dreams, Luuk has continued to be relentless in all of his musical endeavors â as such, this relentless side of him has earned him the prospect of becoming one of the most in-demand DJs in Holland.
After releasing on some of the worldâs leading tech-house labels such as Hot Creations, Cuttinâ Headz, Solid Grooves Records, and Eastenderz with his forged basslines and tight grooves, as well as having key performances at Circoloco, Paradise, DGTL, Awakenings, Fabric London, E1 London, Elrow, STRAF_WERK, along with a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, it’s no surprise that eventually Luuk would find himself on his next journey of launching his own label Dark Side of the Sun. After launching his label in 2020, the label has resulted in a series of superb releases by artists like Ben Sterling, Sidney Charles, Boris Werner, and even Luuk himself.
A Damn Good Time At Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) 2022
A few years ago, just before the year that shall not be named, I had the great pleasure of visiting the famous city of Amsterdam. I had an amazing time there, and experienced the rich nightlife and culture the city and it’s notoriously tall and friendly people had to offer. One moment that stuck out though, was a conversation with a stranger that I met on the dance floor on a Tuesday night. This gentleman mentioned to me that I should come back for the Amsterdam Dance Event, also known as ADE. A few years later, after going through a complete career change and a pandemic; this October I finally had the chance to attend my first ADE.

However, several festival organizers in certain countries such as The Netherlands are deciding to move forward hosting their events this year either during their normal dates or with re-scheduled dates, while organizers in other countries made the call to postpone their festivities until 2022. The Dutch government has announced its plans to begin allowing music festivals within country borders starting on July 1st of 2021, meaning that Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is on the cards for October 2021.

The powerhouse dance music festival brand DGTL makes its way to Parc del Forum for their 5th edition in Barcelona, Spain on August 23rd and 24th. The electronic dance, star-studded lineup comprises international DJ headliners, Marco Carola, Jeff Mills, Tale of Us and more. As well as live performances from Stephan Bodzin and Satori. The fun-filled weekend consists of dueling DJ sets from Tiga b2b with Dubfire, Roman Flugal b2b with Barnt, and Recondite b2b Marcus Worgull to name a few. The 50 artists showcase features both local artists and legendary dance heavy hitters, 4 stages and variety of Avant-grade art installations and emphasis on environmental sustainability.
In this yearâs edition, the festival seeks to improve sound quality and overall experience. According to their latest press release:
âDGTL will also reformulate the floor plan on its 5th edition. Thus, some stages will be relocated to ensure better sound isolation and clarity.â
DGTL Brings Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Jamie Jones, and more to ADE 2018
Based in Holland, DGTL has become one of the most successful festivals in the Dutch scene. Headquartered at the NDSM Docklands, DGTL has had three straight sold-out editions since its first rendition in Spring of 2013. The festival has been extremely selective with the line-ups
DGTL was first launched in the Spring of 2013 in the Netherlands where it introduced a forward-thinking concept with a more selective approach to curation. The festival quickly sold out for the next few years and quickly established itâs reputation as one of the premiere festival brands throughout the Netherlands and the world. It then expanded the brand to Barcelona and Amsterdam Dance Event merging music with art. They then went meat free in 2016 offering no meat options for food at their festival and later on launched DGTL Records with the first release by KiNK.
Cultural and artistic performances are a staple for DGTL creating an innovative experience that is both memorable and awe-inspiring. The organizers seek out the latest in technological innovations and advances to create an unforgettable experience. DGTLâs Revolution puts sustainability at the forefront making fundamental changes to their setup and day-to-day activities. The organizers search for the latest ways to reduce waste, lower CO2 emissions, increase awareness with themes like âGoing Veggieâ.
The venue is a 10 minute boat ride from Amsterdam Central Station on the NDSM-Werf docklands in Amsterdam North. The site faces Neveritawegâs waterfront offering spectacular views of the IJ river and is an ancient shipyard with old industrial buildings, abandoned wharfs and warehouses, rusty shipwrecks, and derelict containers. The whole area is covered in graffiti and street art to provide the ultimate party location.
The one and only Jeff Mills chose DGTL to be his one and only show this year at ADE together with none other than his longtime mate Robert Hood and his daughter which make up Floorplan. Robert Hood and Jeff Mills go back nearly two decades where they joined forces on Underground Resistance. It is difficult to even look up the history of techno without mention of these two. They will be joined by none other than Nina Kraviz, Mall Grab, and a live set by Bicep on Thursday at the festivalâs home, NDSM Docklands.
DGTL will also play host to Jamie Jonesâ Paradise on Friday and Bonoboâs Outlier project on Saturday where Bonobo will go back to back with Ame and KiNK. DJ Koze, Mano Le Tough, Tom Trago, and Leon Vynehall will also join Bonobo on the bill as well as newly minted talent such as Tammo Hesselink and Moxie. Jamie Jones will be accompanied by none other than Derrick May, Darrius Syrossian, Maya Jane Coles, Richy Ahmed, Detlef & Latmun, Mark Jenkyns, and Luke van Dijk and will see a live set by Dubfire.

DGTL Announces Full Lineup for Amsterdam 2018 Edition
DGTL is set to return to Amsterdam for another edition at the NDSM Docklands. Happening on Easter time from March 30 to April 1, 2018, over 65 artists have been announced to their spot behind the decks and treat the crowd on all they have to offer.
