Soul Clap Studio Tour

soul-clap-software-synths-620-80Boston-based duo Soul Clap, consisting of DJ/Producers Bamboozle and Lonely C,  has been pushing boundaries since 2001. Their blend of house, tehno, disco, funk and soul music renders them a vital component of an American dance culture that has been forced into the underground by a watered-down plethora of cliche ‘festival bangers,’ colloquially known as ‘EDM;’ this is ultimately manifested in its dissemination by gluttonous corporation and patronage of pretentious bottle-service socialites, resulting in a homogeneity across a number of genres as producers strive to fit the so-called ‘EDM’ mold. Soul Clap provides a breath of fresh air amidst the disheartening consolidation of a once-beloved industry, demonstrating that ‘proper’ dance music is far from dead and will never fall into obscurity.  Their eclectic, yet cohesive style is largely due to the abundance of both hardware and software synthesizers, crafty utilization of Ableton Live, and some outboard FX gear. While emphasizing the importance of incorporating older and newer hardware, Soul Clap also feels that it is important to embrace software technology to drive the evolution of music. They have stated time and again that making great music doesn’t require a fancy studio – just a creative mind. However, they both admit that working in a fancy studio certainly makes the process both fun and efficient. Our favorites in their collection are the Roland Jupiter-8, Korg MS-2000.

Edu Imbernon has become a rising talent over the past few years providing a healthy blend of house and deep/indie on labels like Get Physical, Suara, Noir, and Culprit. The Spanish artist has the perfect sound to get us ready for the holiday week, and his Deep House Amsterdam Mix sets the vibe perfect for his appearance at Monday Night Social tonight at Sound in Hollywood. As the title states, the mix is a collection of deep house tracks that will get your Monday started off on the right foot.

Tonight, he’ll be alongside one of LA’s favorite local group Droog to rock the famous Monday night party. Every time he comes back into town it’s guaranteed to be a night of beats and good vibes. Clockwork & Avatism (CW/A) – Conducting the Method EP

CW/A better known as the duo alias of childhood musical friends Clockwork (real name: Francesco) and Avatism (real name: Thomas) are set to release their latest EP on Vakant ‘Conducting the Method’ on digital platform this coming Monday, September 29th. The sound of this album shows the moodier side of electronic music with a twist of raw industrial techno a perfect balance of the current underground sound. CW/A’s highly anticipated album was stemmed from their 2013 Sonar Festival experience when the two went LIVE for the first time. Since then, the two have shared multiple stages across Europe as seen last weekend at France’s N.A.M.E. Festival. The Mix Mag team is no stranger to quality dance music. Over the years they have hosted incredible talent ranging from Carl Cox and Seth Troxler to Disclosure and Orbital to perform for their live stream events. This Friday they continue to deliver with one of the best live acts in house music.

Bulgarian producer KiNK rose to the top of the 2013 Resident Advisor Live Act Poll coming in at #3, and tomorrow he will be accompanied by Los Angeles based duo RicoshĂ«i as they all lay down perfect grooves to kick off KiNK’s North American Tour.
