In the last few months, electronic music fans in the States and beyond have been wondering about Decibel Festival, and whether it was returning to Seattle, moving to LA or perhaps both in 2016 and the coming years. The last official news came in the form of an end-of-the-year statement by Decibel’s Founder/Curator Sean Horton where he outlined his goals to continue the long-running event in Seattle while possibly launching a similar project in LA.

We have now learned via an official press release that 11-year old Decibel Festival is officially on an “extended break.” Horton founded the festival and has been an integral and vital part of Seattle’s music scene for over a decade, often putting his own finances on the line to finance the multi-day events that take over the city’s venues every year in September. He recently moved to Los Angeles, leaving many to wonder if Decibel would move with him, continue or exist in both cities.

“Considering the new career path and distance from Seattle, it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that after 11 straight annual editions, Decibel will be taking an extended break,” the press release stated. “Know that Decibel as an organization will continue and this is temporary and much needed break.”
