Q&A: Darius Syrossian, Who Needs Sleep?
Outspoken and straight-forward, you’d be mistaken to label Darius Syrossian as brash. An artist that calls it as he sees it, the Manchester-based producer and DJ is coming off one of the busiest years of his career to date.
Labeled by Pete Tong as “one of Europe’s finest house DJ’s and one who has true pure house music running in his veins,” and spurred on by his work with the Do Not Sleep brand, Darius is the epitome of a true workaholic. 2017 has seen him A&R a label, run a radio show, play gigs throughout the world, hold a summer-long residency at Space Ibiza, and yet manage to be as relentless as ever in the studio.
This coming Saturday he will be in Los Angeles to headline 6AM’s Yearender party with Incognito, a warehouse affair that will see him perform for four hours past sunrise. Despite a hectic schedule that has seen him perform in Montreal and New York City over this past weekend, Darius found some time to sit down with us and talk about everything that went on in these past twelve months and more, including sharing his viewpoints on the current state of Ibiza and his plans for 2017.

If you’ve been to Ibiza this summer it’s highly likely that you’ve seen Detlef at work at either Sankeys or DC-10. The Greek producer and DJ has built himself a career that now sees him deeply entrenched in the underground dance music scene, with a catalogue of releases and remixes on some of the globe’s most respected labels such as Knee Deep In Sound, VIVa Music, Hot Creations, Moon Harbour, and Defected.
Santé and Sidney Charles part ways with Sankeys in support of Darius Syrossian
Just a few days after Sankey’s announcement to let go of Darius Syrossian, Sante and Sidney Charles are now entering the fray. SantĂ© and Sidney Charles have announced their departure from the club with the following statement:Â
“After careful deliberation, we, SantĂ© & Sidney Charles, have decided to renounce the opportunity of playing at Sankeys Ibiza this summer. We leave a fantastic crowd and a great club with a heavy heart, but we strongly value our friendship with Darius and prioritize it over everything else. He was the one who brought us into the fold, and it wouldnât feel right to play there without him, especially considering the circumstances surrounding his departure.
We hope you understand our decision and look forward to seeing you on dancefloors around the world this summer”
Sankeys & Tribal Sessions Cut Ties with Darius Syrossian
Sankeys and Tribal Sessions have officially cut ties with resident and house veteran, Darius Syrossian. Tribal Sessions took to Facebook earlier today to make the announcement stating that Syrossian was âbringing the club [Sankeys] and brand into disreputeâ. As expected, Syrossian took to social media to express his thoughts on the matter while Tribal Sessions is receiving harsh criticism from fans.
In addition to announcing their termination with Syrossian, Tribal Sessions has also stated that they will be announcing a new Tribal Sessions resident in the near future. Whatever the reason may be, there is clearly a lot going on behind the scenes between all entities involved. For the official announcements and response see the screen shots below.
