Born Suncica (Sunny) Barisic, Insolate’s return to the decks and dance floor was powerful. “This was so emotional for me to have [an] event after so many months. Finally, everybody was just waiting for this thing to happen
it was super emotional,” says the DJ and producer. Hosting a city’s, let alone country’s, first event in months is something most DJs are dreaming about since COVID-19’s lockdown. After Us Records

Croatian Imprint After Us Records Releases V/A EP with Tracks From PerĂž, Bosnyak, Petter B & Ray Kajioka

Sowing its first seed in 2018, After Us Records is a young record label that emerged from Croatia. So far two releases have seen the light of the day, one vinyl and one digital with the likes of Mattias Fridell, Ray Kajioka, Stefan Vincent, Volster, Unis (Nihad Tule & Sev Dah), PerĂž, Bogdan and Bosnyak.

The label’s mainframe is electronic music with few genre limitations although different styles of techno music are the link here. The first release was focused on joined output from Croatian and Scandinavian artists, whilst the second one is a more diverse various release filled with pounding and deep beats but also melodic and Detroit-esque chords on the flipside.

This V/A release is opened by the famous Swedish producer Petter B from Gothenburg, whose “Speed Dial” as the name itself says, gives the impression of speeding through low frequencies. PerĂž closes the A-side with a melancholic “Envelopes” dominated by dub chords, as you can hear in the premiere below. Asian-born Berlin master Ray Kajioka starts off the B-side with “Dark Horse”, the most progressive work on the record, while Bosnyak completes the EP with “Iron Man” which includes witty samples of Balkan scrap metal collectors

Interview: The World of Croatia with Jan Kincl and Regis Kattie

For the past few years, Croatia has been quickly gaining worldwide recognition as a party destination. With a gorgeous coastline that encompasses mountains and numerous islands with both sand and pebble beaches, festival promoters from Europe and the U.S. have recently sought out Croatia as a prime destination for electronic music festivals.

Although Croatia is becoming well-known for underground electronic music, there still is a limited amount of artists that come from this small country in the Balkans. Major festival promoters have flocked to Croatia and the festival scene continues to grow although the club scene is still quite dormant. The capital of Zagreb still only has one or two nightclubs that feature house and techno and during the summer everyone flocks to the coast and it can almost seem as nothing is really going on in the largest city.

_MG_4978

Croatia is proudly becoming one of the hottest festival destinations in the world, and there’s no doubt that another crazy festival season is ahead of us for 2017.

Zrce Beach, often referred to as Croatia Ibiza, will be hosting Spring Break Island again. The event is celebrating its 5th birthday this year and promises to deliver 3 unforgettable days and nights of good music, great company and endless parties.

Mark the date: from June 2nd 2017 to the 5th Spring Break Island will take over Zrce Beach with Spinnin’ Records superstar Tujamo announced as the first headliner. The festival has hosted more than 50 DJs so far, including the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, SIGMA, Klingande, Allefarben, DJ Antoine, Mike Candys, Plastik Funk and many others. He will be joined by no other than the guys from Simon & Phil, who surprised attendees with an outstanding live performance during last year’s edition of the festival.

The festival has gone a step further, announcing two additional venues for this year’s Spring Break celebrations. Novalja city will remain the location for all pre-parties, with Cocomo Club and Noa Beach Club, crowned #20 club in the world by DJ Mag, the two hosting point for the celebrations. Added for 2017 are Deep Club, where you’ll be able to enjoy the deeper sounds of the festival and Rocks Beach Club, the perfect location to chill out by a pool while sipping on your favorite cocktail and enjoying the expansive views over the beach and sea ahead of you.

Where Is The Next Ibiza?

Ibiza DC10

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again: Ibiza is changing – and if anyone tells you otherwise they have either not seen it with their own eyes or are simply lying to you.

In recent months we have seen local officials closing down beach parties, imposing 6:30am club curfews and admitting that the island cannot take in much more tourism due to depleted natural and local resources. And let’s not forget the imminent end of the legendary Space Ibiza (with ENTER and Carl Cox’s Music Is Revolution both leaving the island), the rise of VIP-centered UshuaĂŻa as well as the increasing prevalence of commercial dance music throughout the Balearic island. On top of that, a recent criminal investigation by local authorities has resulted in raids at Amnesia, Space and Privilege, with four men arrested, including the owner of Amnesia and his son.

Things are changing, and Ibiza is no longer the same Ibiza of 5, 10 or 15 years ago, and while progress is natural, a large portion of dance music fans are now looking for less-regulated new destinations to freely enjoy the underground sounds of their favorite artists. Below are our top picks for the “next Ibiza” – destinations that have been and continue to be more and more popular for those seeking to party while on vacation.
