CircoLoco Debuts in Austin & Welcomes Marco Carola, Michael Bibi & More

Today, revered underground party brand CircoLoco announced their return across the Atlantic to host their first U.S. date of the year, touching down for their Austin, Texas debut on February 25 at the Concourse Project. The show will be produced in collaboration with longtime North American partners, Teksupport and local partner Stranger Than. Following the success of CircoLoco’s 2021 U.S. tour, which saw CircoLoco curate world class dance floors in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, the brand is poised to continue their U.S. pilgrimage, bringing their globally admired Balearic rave stateside once again.

CircoLoco Austin will play host to the sounds of fellow Ibiza resident and RUMORS beach party curator Guy Gerber alongside Italian-born techno institution and Music On founder Marco Carola, Solid Grooves icon Michael Bibi, and PVBLIC XCESS’ Chloé Caillet.

CircoLoco is one of underground dance music’s longest running brands, representing house and techno for over twenty years through its parties at Ibiza’s DC10 and around the world. As its reputation has grown, CircoLoco’s dance floor has become a principal intersection between underground dance music and elements of fashion, art and wider culture.

Circoloco Confirms Seth Troxler, Peggy Gou, Nic Fanciulli and More For Southeast Asian Debut in Phuket

12 Open Air Venues You Need to Visit This Summer

If there’s one supreme thing to look forward to during the summer it’s open air parties. Warm weather and blue skies overhead as lush house grooves emit from the speakers – it’s a hard scenario to beat.

Throughout summer it’s not uncommon to see open-air pop up parties such as Richie Hawtin in Plaça de la Boqueria, tINI hosting beach events in Ibiza (until they get shut down by authorities), or Subtract and Sublevel taking over a golf course in Malibu. But pop-up parties aside, there’s established venues that will be grooving all summer.

Here are 12 open air venues that we have our sights on this summer.

Circoloco Pulls Ten Walls from DC-10 Ibiza Lineup Following Protests from Fellow DJs and Fans

Following yesterday’s controversial announcement by Circoloco to book Ten Walls for this coming Monday’s residency party at DC-10 Ibiza, party organizers were hit by a series of complaints from both internationally-renowned DJs in the industry, as well as electronic music fans at large.

Understandably, many felt insulted that the Lithuanian producer, guilty of having made public homophobic remarks last summer through his social media channels, was once again given such a platform to play music. While some electronic music listeners did feel he should be given another chance, the majority of those weighing in were surprised, shocked or even angry at the decision.

Some of the most vocal tweets came from the likes of Midland, Eats Everything and Seth Troxler. The latter is scheduled to play the party still, and we suspect, due to his history as a vocal champion for equality that he had a word or two to say in private about the booking.

A mere 24 hours after the lineup announcement, Circoloco has come out with an official statement pulling Ten Walls from the roster set to play the club on July 4th:

Circoloco Gives Ten Walls “Another Chance” and Books Him For DC-10 Ibiza

Perhaps surprisingly to some, one of the world’s most respected and popular underground parties is giving Ten Walls “another chance.”

Of course you will remember the public homophobic comments made by Marijus Adomaitis, better known by his stage names Ten Walls and Mario Basanov, in the summer of last year, and the criticism he received as a result of them. He was dropped by several major festivals, let go of by Coda Music Agency and was on the receiving end of several public remarks by other artists in the underground scene who made a point of both canceling gigs with him and distancing themselves from his remarks.

He went on to publish a public apology in September 2015 via DJ Mag, denouncing his highly-criticized comments and declaring his new-found stance against homophobia. At the time, the apology drew further criticism from many who perceived it to be insincere and insufficient to redeem the damage done. In April of this year, the producer announced a 10-stop “Equalized” tour throughout Europe and the UAE, leaving many to wonder how he would be received back on the road by the thousands of electronic music fans who took offense to his original comments.

It appears, that other promoters are now giving the Lithuanian producer another chance to redeem himself and his career. It was announced today that Ten Walls has been booked to play the esteemed Circoloco party at DC-10 taking place this coming Monday 4th of July. He is accompanied on the roster by the likes of Seth Troxler, Solomun, Matthias Tanzmann and Nicole Moudaber for what represents the latest edition of the party’s Coming Of Age summer 2016 residency.

The comments on Circoloco’s Facebook announcement (see below) have shown divided opinions. Some are surprised to see Ten Walls featured in the lineup, while others believe that everyone deserves a second chance.

Another summer seems to have come and gone so quickly. The 2015 Ibiza season was once again filled with fun, sun, and absolute debauchery. There is so much diversity on the island with each brand and venue providing their own unique experience throughout the week that there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you were dreaming about the White Isle, actually exploring it, or lucky enough to be there grooving until the morning hours, it goes without saying that a summer in Ibiza is unlike any other.

With September now here, the attention of many shifts to the ample amount of closing parties taking place on Ibiza. As expected, the options are nearly endless and it’s tough to go wrong with any of Ibiza’s closing parties – but we made an attempt to pick some of our favorites. Circoloco Goes to Japan

On May 30^th the iconic clubbing brand, Circoloco, will be taking their vision to the Makuhari Seaside Park in Chiba, Japan. Famous for their parties at DC-10 and an expansive roster of A-list underground artists, Circoloco isn’t just a brand it’s a lifestyle.

The Japanese edition of Circoloco will feature the usual suspects such as: Matthias Tanzmann, Cassy, Tania Vulcano, Peter Dundov, D’Julz, Clive Henry, Martin Buttrich, with a special appearance from Japan’s Satoshi Otsuki. The festivities will begin at 11:00 am and will be followed by a special after party that night at Womb, Tokyo. The after party lineup is yet to be announced, but picking a few artists off the Circoloco day lineup might provide a solid starting point.

Circoloco is always at the forefront of creating special events, and the Japanese edition of Circoloco will be no exception. Expect nothing but the best for both the day and night programming.

Freebie Friday: Redshape – Hallo808

If there’s one thing we know about Redshape, it’s that he has a way of delivering house and techno unlike anyone else out there. The Berlin artist chooses to perform anonymously, embracing a red mask. But don’t let the mask fool you as an overused gimmick; his music certainly reinforces his artist persona. From sets like Circoloco at DC-10, Ibiza to productions being supported by artists such as Cassy, Sian, and Steffi, his sound acts as a puppeteer to the dancefloor.

Redshape offered up an absolutely gritty 808 inspired jam as a free download on Halloween back in 2013. Not for the faint of heart, this is mostly a DJ tool that can be used at disposal when needing to add some serious punch to a set. His ethos has always been about an emphasis on the music, in all aspects. While this is a very dance floor driven track and a giveaway, Redshape has a catalog that stretches far and wide, fully expressing his range as an artist.
