Sasha b2b John Digweed Headline Ultra Music Festival Phase 1

Ultra releases a promising phase one lineup for the event taking place on March 24th through the 26th of 2017.

Remember our April Fool’s post about Sasha and John Digweed reuniting for a b2b tour? The joke became a reality and seems to have been extended into 2017 as they are included in Ultra’s lineup for a b2b set.

The extensive list also includes Carl Cox, Dubfire, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Marco Carola, and Tale of Us amongst others.

General admission tickets are still on sale for $324.95 + fees.

Carl Cox Predicts “New Kings Will Emerge” In Ibiza Following Space Closure

CarlCox Space

Ibiza, often hailed as the Mecca of dance music and club culture, has seen a number of setbacks. The infamous island has always enjoyed a reputation as a hedonist paradise, with hundreds of thousands of tourists flocking annually for a summer of round-the-clock partying. Carl Cox recently lamented on the effects the closure of Space in an interview with Mixmag. Cox, who saw his 15-year residency at Space end this season, explained that Ibiza’s rising prices are beginning to prohibit summer partiers from vacationing there.

As the man himself puts it, “It’s slipping… The crown of that [being number one] is slipping. I just think when you have something so good for so long, if you’re up the top, the only way you can go is down.” He continues, “Ibiza’s become so expensive for everybody. The taxis are expensive, the hire cars are expensive, the restaurants are expensive, getting into certain nightclubs is expensive. If you’re not rich, no one can afford to have a really good time anymore like you used to in the old days.”

The beloved Carl then mentions Romania and Croatia as premiere up-and-coming party destinations, noting that crowds of clubbers will travel wherever their favorite artists are performing, enjoying the “mystery” of traveling to new places and navigating an unfamiliar scene. He adds, “Ibiza’s not like that anymore. You know exactly what nights are happening and the DJs [that are playing]. You come out of it and think ‘Jesus, I’ve spent all that money and, actually, the night wasn’t that great.'”

Sadly, the veteran DJ will not take any Ibiza residency in the future although he still plans to play guest sets at a select number of venues such as Amnesia for Marco Carola’s Music On and DC-10 for Circoloco. Carl added that he is confident Ibiza will eventually turn a corner when UshuaĂŻa fully takes over the location previously occipied by Space, adding that “the new kings will emerge”.Click here to read the full interview

The Art of the Resident DJ: BURN Residency ft. Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Luciano and more

Seth Trxler live

BURN recently went through a journey to discover emerging talent in the world of dance music through a BURN Residency 2016 program that received over 9.000 applications.

With applicants spanning 26 countries, a DJ from each was chosen to attend the BURN Bootcamp to participate in lectures, workshops and DJ classes ran by some of the most influential and skilled artists in today’s dance music world such as Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, John Digweed and Luciano.

Three finalists, Mira Joo, Ayman Awad and Lollino, were picked from this group of 26 for a 10-week Ibiza residency with gigs at Sankeys and Bora Bora included. Lollino eventually won the €100,000 grand prize, coming out as the winner of the Residency program.

As part of the Residency initiative, BURN has released three separate documentaries profiling the art of the resident DJ, a series we began to explore with Paris’ Rex Club resident D’Julz, one of the best selectors the house music scene has to offer.

The first mini-documentary is called ‘The Creator’ and focuses on Carl Cox’s meteoric rise in Ibiza and his 15 year Music Is Revolution residency at Space that just ended this past summer. The idea behind this first video is to highlight one of the most prominent residencies in the world by an artist still in circulation, albeit one that has just come to an end.

‘The Movement’ looks at the ascent of a new series of top-tier names in underground dance music, developing on the paths taken by Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers and Apollonia in reaching the success they have achieved thus far.

‘The Future’ decides to look at ahead, as the name might suggest, by exploring the next generation of artists and prospective residents with input from BURN mentors Carl Cox, Dubfire and Uner, as well as other key industry figures.

Unfortunately, it sometimes seems the world only continues to grow worse.

Luckily for us, however, there are many individuals that aim to make this earth a better place for those around them.

We chose to highlight ten different DJs and producers in the dance music industry that are determined to leave this world in a better state than they found it. The below artists have been known to use their platforms and outreach potential to raise awareness and funds for charitable organizations and projects they feel are important to support. Our respect goes out to them for their efforts with the added encouragement that they continue to do good in their communities and for the philanthropic programs they hold dear.

Rewatch Carl Cox’s Final Chapter All-Vinyl Set at Music Is Revolution, Space Ibiza in HD

Carl Cox Space

The final chapter of a fifteen-year love story. The final chapter for one of the leading men in electronic music and in some way a symbolic final chapter for Space Ibiza, arguably the most revered club on the island if not the world.

Although Space Ibiza still has its final Closing Fiesta to prepare for, which Carl Cox will be headlining by the way, last night’s Music Is Revolution Final Chapter has perhaps more real meaning than the festival-like send-off scheduled for Sunday, October 2nd. For fifteen years Carl’s residency has been the face of Space, his personal friendship with Pepe Rosello the emblem of the perfect Ibiza partnership between club owner and resident DJ. And just like that, with Rosello’s decision to sell the property to the UshuaĂŻa Group and possibly re-open elsewhere on the island in 2-3 years, that signature element of Ibiza folklore is gone. Tuesdays on the island will never be the same again.

To close out his residency, Cox chose to play the Discoteca all night, delivering a 10 hour all-vinyl performance worthy of a true DJ masterclass. His set was immortalized live by be-at.tv, and is available for replay in full HD below. It was also broadcasted live by over 50 FM stations worldwide and recorded for the 700th Global Radio radio show.

Carl Cox Will Play Vinyl For First Time Since 2006 to Close Out Last Ever Ibiza Residency

CarlCoxVinyl

Carl Cox will play a vinyl set for the first time in ten years at the grand finale of his Music Is Revolution party series at Space Ibiza. The legendary 15 year residency comes to an end Tuesday, September 20th.

It was in 2006 when he last played a vinyl set, leading him to possibly introduce several old tracks that this generation’s ravers may not have heard live yet. He will be in the Discoteca from 8pm Tuesday night until Wednesday morning. The UK DJ says he “wanted to take things back and pay homage to all those years at Space spinning records.”

When talking about his final residency party, “At the start of my residency, of course I only played vinyl but now everything is digital and has been for some years,” says Cox.

“I want to show respect to those older tunes, dig out some of my old vinyl and play them alongside new tunes. A lot of the crowd probably won’t have even heard them before, so it’s a way of showing the music is still relevant. I thought it was a fitting way to say goodbye. I also want people to know I can still DJ with vinyl and make the house rock. This music has been my life and I want to share it one last time at Space.”

We know Cox will certainly make the house rock for his final show at Space. Joining him for the final celebration also includes tiNI, DJ Sneak, Popof, Nic Fanciulli and others.

Space Ibiza to Reopen In Two Years at a New Location

If you thought this was the last ever summer for Space Ibiza, think again.

Anyone who has been following the club’s recent news of the past year knows that Carl Cox, resident and personal friend of long-term owner Pepe Rosello, was the first to break the news that the UshuaĂŻa Group was purchasing the current location where Space resides

In his latest interview, however, he reveals the news countless have been waiting for: Space will reopen elsewhere in the island in the fairly near future.

Speaking to Ticketmaster, he stated, “Plans are on the table for it opening at another site but it won’t happen for at least two years and will it be the same? We don’t know. I don’t know whether I will be involved because there are so many variables.

Carl Cox and Tale Of Us to Headline Space Ibiza’s Final Closing Party

Carl Cox love space

The 2nd of October will mark the end of an era, the final closing party of Space Ibiza as we’ve come to know it before club owner Pepe Rosello hands over the keys to the UshuaĂŻa group at the end of the season, following 27 years at the helm of the world-renowned nightlife institution.

The transition has been somewhat telling, with Carl Cox revealing that 2016 would be the final year of his Music Is Revolution residency at Space and on the island altogether, and Richie Hawtin similarly announcing that ENTER. wouldn’t return past the 2015 season.

It is unclear exactly what will become of the venue once ownership changes, but we do now know that Carl Cox and Tale of Us will be headlining the final fiesta to close the 2016 season and the long magical run of what has become one of the top clubbing destinations of the entire world.

Many more artists will be announced in the coming weeks, for what is sure to be the hottest party on the island for 2016. Traditionally, Space’s Closing Fiesta is so large that a special outdoor stage is constructed in the massive parking lot adjacent to the club in order to accommodate both the massive lineup that is to be revealed soon, and the crowds that will come to pay their respects as the curtain drops on the legendary venue.
