Burning Man 2016 Ticket Info & Dates Available

Burning Man

Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to building a strong community that builds itself around various forms of art, self-expression, and self-reliance.

Burning Man 2016 is fast approaching and ticket information has just been released detailing this year’s important dates for ticket registration, ticket sales and more. The first important date is this coming Wednesday 10th of February at 12pm (noon) PST, when the first Pre-sale registration opens.

It’s important to know that ticket prices and information has changed for 2016. While price for regular tickets is the same as it was last year at $390 per ticket, a 9% tax is being added amounting to $34 for each ticket. This is to cover the Live Entertainment Tax being imposed which Burning Man ends up falling under. Please note, however, that the creators of Burning Man have submitted an inquiry on the matter with the Nevada Department of Taxation and should the tax be found not to apply after ticket sales commence, they will issue a refund for the 9% collected.

This year’s Leonardo Da Vinci’s Workshop theme has also pushed Burning Man to introducing a small tier of 1,000 tickets at $1,200 for those who are willing and able to offer support through this medium. Pre-Sale ticket prices will also rise from $800 to $990, with the aim to keep prices the same for everyone else.

Please note that all sales require registration through Burner Profiles, so it’s highly recommended that those interested in making the trek to Black Rock City do so as early as possible. Registering does not guarantee access to a ticket or vehicle pass and due to the event’s ever-growing popularity is is important to be on top of dates to increase your chances. Burning Man does a great job in providing a handy timezone calculator so that you don’t miss any crucial dates, no matter where in the world you are coming from.

See below for the initial important dates to keep in mind:

Burning Man 2016 Theme: Da Vinci’s Workshop

Manbase.AJ_

“Five centuries later, we will attempt to recreate this potent social alchemy by combining Burning Man art, maker culture and creative philanthropy to make Black Rock City the epicenter of a new renaissance.” – Larry Harvey and Stuart Mangrum

The Burning Man organization has announced the art theme for next year’s Burn, titled Da Vinci’s Workshop. The theme is of course inspired by the fundamental inventiveness and social ideas of artisanship of the Italian Renaissance during much of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The Renaissance can be considered the quintessential art period that is taught in pretty much every art and art history class around the world, so it is proper for Burning Man to dive into the roots of Western art’s greatest movement. Derrick Carter, Dixon, and Matt Tolfrey to play Robot Heart’s Further Future 2016

further-future-lessthan3.com_

In a desolate land so near and yet so far lies a gleaming light originating from a single source. The Robot Heart art car stands in stark metallic contrast to the never-ending stretch of dust in the middle of the Nevada desert beyond the hedonist paradise of Las Vegas. The barren landscape echoes volumes of the spirits that gather together for a weekend of mind-bending house, techno, analog and experimental music blasting over a world-class sound system.

The team behind the creation of the Robot Heart art car will bring Further Future 002 in 2016 as a follow up to their momentous Beginning. This rare gem of an up-and-coming desert festival has a cult following due to its reputation at Burning Man as one of the best sound camps around. Further Future will bring a larger than life lineup with talent spanning the globe as well as genres including &me, Derrick Carter, Dixon, Matt Tolfrey, Rampue, whomadewho, and more.

The Robot Heart community is a group of like-minded enlightenment seekers that create a unified society of music lovers, artists, dancers, creators, and movers. Further Future represents the intersection of art, science, and community in producing a one of a kind festival experience.

The festival will take place at the height of spring from April 29 to May 1, 2016. Sign up on their main site to keep updated on tickets and other important announcements and information.

Listen to Hernan Cattaneo’s Sunrise Set from Burning Man

White Ocean

“Burning Man is by far the most interesting festival in the world. Not a music festival, but an arts and expression celebration”

Those are the words noted by Hernan Cattaneo reflecting on another year at the White Ocean camp. White Ocean is an oasis of paradise during Burning Man, and is always graced by the humble presence of the progressive maestro at some point or another.

On Wednesday morning Hernan Cattaneo took to the decks at White Ocean to deliver a sunrise session for the books. It was a set tailor-made to the warm sunrise of the desert, and within the first few moments Cattaneo was swiftly mixing in melodic cuts that set an incredible tone in preparation for a tribally groove that the Argentinian does so well.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy two and a half hours of Hernan Cattaneo courtesy of White Ocean and the man himself.

Road to Burning Man: Top 5 Mixes for the Trip to Black Rock City

b4c10d8dea60fac01560e22038eee1f1

The Man burns in twelve days, and many count down the remaining days of the week before Burning Man with great anticipation. So to sustain these intense feelings of eagerness, we have compiled our top five mixes for the trip to Black Rock City: The Road to Burning Man 2015 edition. The drive will be pleasant as these mixes (listed in alphabetical order) bump over the car stereo and the landscape changes with the course of time and distance.

1. Ben Seagren

Three solid hours of uplifting house and techno with a few remnants of psytrance thrown into the mix. The eclectic vibes are dynamic and well-rounded, making it an ideal mix for an improvised dance floor on the Playa where everyone just wants dance the night away under the gaze of stars and trailing neon lights.

2. Damian Lazarus

Tribal with a funky desert flair, this is the quintessential style of Damian Lazarus’ music. This mix conjures a circle of dancing gypsies, veiled in shadows cast by the sun at the crack of dawn. A sentimental, yet empowering compilation of ancient tongues and modern four-on-the-floor beats.

3. Maceo Plex

Maceo Plex will be making an appearance at the Burn this time around. With the recent release of Solar Sampler on his own label Ellum, Maceo Plex will be delivering tunes straight from the raw underground of techno with a hint of ambient psychedelia.

4. Mikey Lion

Well known for his top hat getup and smashing tech house tunes, the Desert Hearts DJ and producer always brings energy to a good party. This mix showcases his colorful personality with his signature strong kicks, toms, and hi-hats; it’s hard to stand still to nothing but good vibes.

5. The Scumfrog

As big as the universe in its worldly new age appeal, The Scumfrog’s mix is a blend of acid rock, disco, house, and just about everything in between. The mix takes the listener on a scenic route to a higher plateau of thinking and in some ways is a two-hour contemporary electronic music tribute to the golden 1960s.

Honorable Mention: Behrouz

We have included a bonus mix just released a la Behrouz. This mix is mystical, tropical, and mellow to the core, something we would recommend playing upon exodus. We can blissfully leave the Playa chanting ¡Arriba! and hold off on the wave of nostalgic sadness.

Dubfire and Audiofly remix Hot Since 82

HS82_04

While everyone is hot on the trail with a week left before Burning Man, Hot Since 82 gets the deep playa tech house treatment courtesy of Dubfire with a remix of Leave Me and an Audiofly remix of Sundown. The Dubfire Playa Remix of Hot Since 82 and Habischman’s Leave Me is both enigmatic and alluring with its hypnagogic synths, visceral vocals, and tribal drum lines. The Audiofly touchup of Sundown beacons a psychedelic awakening, a tune that elicits powerful thoughts while watching the sunrise on the Playa.

The 2-track release is hot off the press from Moda Black, a forward-thinking UK-based record label, that dabbles in the worldly sounds of house and techno. Dubfire’s Playa Remix is an unusual one-off that works because it is completely relevant to the Burner vibes manifesting all around.

The remixes are available for purchase on Beatport, iTunes, and 12″ vinyl direct from Moda Black, or you can stream below for a good listening.
