Beach Vibes Festival In Tulum Cancelled

In an update on their website, Beach Vibes Festival communicated the cancellation of the event which was supposed to take place from January 27th through January 29th on a Tulum beach in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Artists on the bill included event organizers LCD Soundsystem Hot Chip, Carl Craig, DJ Harvey, The Black Madonna, and others.

In a statement posted on the festival’s website, organizers said, “The event was not coming together in the way that it was envisioned, and all parties have agreed that putting on an event that is less than 100% would be a disservice to the fans and bands alike.” They also reassured that, “Fans who purchased all-inclusive packages will be refunded in full, including related airfare expenses”

We reported back in May that Tulum city officials had decided to ban rave parties in the village so that guests can continue to enjoy their stay without being bothered by city noise such as those created by raves and parties. Although no information on specifics is known yet, the cancellation leaves us to wonder if Beach Vibes’ cancellation has anything to do with regulation roadblocks. We will update our readers when more information is made available.

Riviera Maya News has reported that Tulum officials have decided to ban rave parties in the otherwise quiet fishing village. According to the news, Roberto Palazuelos Badeux, president of the AsociaciĂłn de Hoteles of Tulum, has stated, “There will be no more rave parties because they bring many negative things such as a large generation of vehicular traffic. Also, such events are held all night and into the early morning, ending at 9:00 a.m. or 10 a.m.”

He went on to precise that the aim of this change is to continue creating an atmosphere in Tulum where guests can continue to enjoy their stay without being bothered by city noise such as those created by raves and parties.

The local officials have reached this consensus in liaison with local hotels, with three levels of government involved in ensuring that tourism is promoted and competitiveness is improved.

This will have a particular negative effects for those making their ways to the area during BPM Festival week. While the festival itself concentrates on doing parties in Playa del Carmen, individual labels, artists and parties have been holding their own events in nearby Tulum for several years now. The most talked about of these, Day Zero by Damian Lazarus, drew in incredible praise by industry and music fans alike as one of the best parties of the entire calendar year.

Luciano – Live At Cadenza Meets Planet E (Bpm 2015)

Flyer

Throughout a week of events, some are bound to stand out more than others. Cadenza meets Planet E at Mamitas had a heavy lineup with Mark Fanciulli, Moodymann, Stacey Pullen, Carl Craig, and Luciano. The fusion of styles commonly associated with Cadenza was a perfect compliment to that of Planet E, and the house and techno grooves found in this set are serious dance floor material.

The atmosphere at this showcase seems to have been in great spirits judging from the selection of tunes from Luciano. The mix feels incredibly balanced as he weaves through deep tribal rhythms and open air house grooves, and the final moments of his set propel the dance floor into an absolute frenzy. Quality work from the Cadenza master mind capturing the essence of The BPM Festival. This mix is a great example of the quality music experienced in Playa del Carmen that week. Enjoy Luciano live at Cadenza Meets Planet E.

Joris Voorn B2B Nic Fanciulli at BPM 2015

Who are the strongest artists in the tech house field? Individually, Joris Voorn and Nic Fanciulli rank high on the list of prominent tech house artists, but when they join forces the result is rather fantastic. The two recently teamed up at BPM for the La Familia party, and put down an impressive set that lasted well into the morning.

Voorn and Fanciulli compliment each others style perfectly, which resulted in a perfect fusion for their extended back-to-back. Throughout the almost five hour journey they had everything from gritty tech house, uplifting classic house cuts, vocal jams, and even included a throwback to Supermode’s Tell Me Why as the morning sun warmed the dance floor. The set is nothing short of excellent, so if you missed it you can catch the audio/video stream below. A perfect mix to get through half the work day.
