Alexa Borzyk began her musical journey at the age of 8 as a violinist and a self-taught guitarist at the age of 15. After many years of involvement in Montrealâs Psytrance scene, her journey towards techno began as a collector of Dance music during her time in nursing school. Her trademark of high energy and spikes of 90s techno is born deep in the crate where she digs up her Belgian/Polish roots. From enigmatic breakbeat and trance samples offering elements of nostalgia, Alexa invites the audience’s participation whose musical appreciation eclipses that of just one genre.
Since 2016, having played Illusion Festival, the SATosphere, Salon DaomĂ©, Stereo, and Piknic Elektronic, Montrealâs techno scene is familiar with Alexaâs sound. From opening duties for Richie Hawtin and Reinner Zonneveld to playing along with acts such as VTSS and Stephanie Sykes in self-produced events at Le Livart and EntrepĂŽts Dominion. Her first release of 2022 was a 4-track EP debuting on the Belgian techno label Coincidence Records. In her young career, her track has earned its play at the world-renowned Tomorrowland by Nur Jaber, which was live-streamed from the festival. With her knowledge of production and passion for music, she doesnât plan to stop releasing anytime soon. Keep your eyes peeled as there is more to come from this fresh talent.
Ascending into the realm of Electro/Disco-House is the Brussels-based group Nervian Society. New on the Brussels scene, the group is exploring the sonic depths of Electro and Disco-House music and turning their projects into sonically groovy pieces. Nervian Society is D&Dâs project surrounded by talented guests. The first D is the composer, producer, and sound engineer, who has worked with some renowned artists such as TTC, DJ Cam, JC De Castelbajac, Holden, Instructor, JL Aubert, and Que La Suite Soit Douce â while the other D crafts the unique electronic tools they use for their production. The project is devoted to their dance music passion: Disco and Electro with accents of House music for good measure. On stage, they perform a hybrid live DJ Set that is a wall of sound made of loops, effects, mashups, modular synths, and live vocals.
In addition to creating groove-hitting masterpieces, the members also take pride in finding their haven for recording, producing, and collaborating with like-minded artists within Brusselsâ scene in Spector Studio and their label Sub-Continental. The studio has had successful collaborations with artists such as the Flemish French-speaking Pop band Que La Suite Soit Douce (aka QLSSD), the Electro-prose duet The Cultural Studies, and the Punk-Hardcore act Instructor. Now, the group continues to celebrate their love of dance music with their latest EP DucpĂ©tiauxlaan, which explores various shades of electronic music such as Electro, Italo-Disco, and of course, House.
The unique blend of his insanely creative mind, incredible mindset and years of experience is what characterizes Belgium-based DJ & producer Cancel. Complexity, intensity and pure excellence are just a mere three qualities that define his distinctive style. Already at the beginning of his musical journey back in 2005, he was instantly attracted to the niche of hardcore and became and still is a key figure in the industrial hardcore scene.
Inspired by this era, Cancel displays powerful performances and refined productions that demonstrate a whole new level of quality which will leave a huge impact on the existing techno scene.
Maxi Meraki is a DJ and producer from Antwerp, Belgium. He’s known for merging raw disco beats and melodic house- bringing the old school sound with a new melodic take. He has releases on such labels as Nervous Records, Artwork, Future Disco, Sudam Recordings and German DJ Tensnake‘s True Romance. Maxi’s tracks are also well supported and played by Claptone, Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry, BLOND:ISH and Pete Tong on BBC1. Maxi talks to 6AM about his accomplishments so far as an artist and the Belgium house scene.
Hitting the Beatport chart at number 15 with his release ‘”A joke that kills” on Green Velvet’s Relief Records, 6AM is proud to share FRED HUSH’s, Guest Mix. As a child, FRED HUSH was immediately drawn to watching a lot of MTV Europe. This interest would later transgress into a passion for DJing at the age of fourteen with a Teac cassette deck, a mix table without any buttons, and a Sanyo turntable. Eventually, in 2003 at the age of twenty-one, he would begin a  residency at the famous HÂČo Club (Belgium) white room. FRED HUSH would play sets nonstop from dusk till dawn.
Belgian DJ/Producer Duo Filterheadz, comprised of brothers Bert and Maarten Wilmaers has become an industry fixture in the past decade. Having released “Sunshine” on Carl Cox‘ Intec Digital nearly 20 years ago, the duo now looks forward to their latest release Emerge EP on Unity Records, a techno-centered EP to complement their high-energy DJ performances. For the anticipation of their latest release, they answered a few questions about dance music, their inspirations, and what the past year has been like for them.
Gearing up for its 6th edition, Voltage Festival returns Saturday, August 8th and Sunday, August 9th this summer. They’ve announced an absolutely massive 2020 lineup featuring some of the greatest known and unknown techno artists. After a highly successful 2019 run, the festival returns bigger and better than ever.
Techno lovers from around the world will fall in love with the hard and heavy sounds coming out of the Transfo in Zwevegem. This abandoned Belgium power plant is set to host a slew of killer acts like 999999999, Anetha, British Murder Boys, Karenn, and Len Faki.

In recent years, Voltage Festival has grown into a profound techno powerhouse on both national and international levels. About a quarter of last year’s attendees came from abroad â countries like the UK, France, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.
This year offers a relentlessly rough roster from Berghain resident, Len Faki, to exciting B2Bs like VTSS and Randomer as Body Sushi. If you enjoy a blend of EBM, trance, electro, and ’90s techno, then Anetha is your girl. Don’t miss the Voltage debut of Viper Diva â a new project between ShlĂžmo and fellow Frenchman, Hadone.
Karenn is the trippy, glitchy live duo of Blawan and Pariah. 999999999 continues to obliterate dance floors with their mind-bending acid techno. And for the first time in 11 years, you can catch Regis and Surgeon playing together in Belgium as British Murder Boys.
Schacke is fast-rising with his experimental brand of Danish techno â not one to be missed if you know what’s good for you. Meanwhile DJ Stingray holds down the North American representation. Another Berghain regular, Efdemin‘s one of the leading pioneers of modern techno; always worth seeing. Representing Belgium among others is Peter Van Hoesen, whose storytelling productions constantly think outside the box. From top to bottom, this whole lineup bangs. Your summer would be remiss without attending this seriously sick festival.

The music will be spread across three different stages during this fantastic and furious 2-day affair â the Anode, the Turbine, and the Rotor. Also, six organizations will have the opportunity to host a stage featuring their own curated schedule of DJs.
