A few years ago, just before the year that shall not be named, I had the great pleasure of visiting the famous city of Amsterdam. I had an amazing time there, and experienced the rich nightlife and culture the city and it’s notoriously tall and friendly people had to offer. One moment that stuck out though, was a conversation with a stranger that I met on the dance floor on a Tuesday night.  This gentleman mentioned to me that I should come back for the Amsterdam Dance Event, also known as ADE. A few years later, after going through a complete career change and a pandemic; this October I finally had the chance to attend my first ADE.

Awakenings Festival 2019

Awakenings 2022 Celebrates 25 Years, Adds an Extra Date

The internationally renowned techno brand Awakenings is celebrating its anniversary of 25 years. The completely revamped festival will have a new location in the town of Hilvarenbeek just north of Eindhoven. This will be Awakenings’ first multi-day techno festival in the Netherlands to host a campsite. The festival will take place this summer on 29 – 31 July. Visitors will be treated to something unlike they’ve ever seen before.

With the recent news that the European Union will likely welcome vaccinated Americans and allow citizens of EU member states to travel between their borders this summer, dance music fans are setting their sights on festivals in Europe. The status of festivals within Europe is a mixed bag. England just announced lockdown restrictions will be delayed by four weeks. However, several festival organizers in certain countries such as The Netherlands are deciding to move forward hosting their events this year either during their normal dates or with re-scheduled dates, while organizers in other countries made the call to postpone their festivities until 2022. The event will take place on Saturday 24th August at the NDSM Docklands in Amsterdam.

Awakenings Announces Easter Special Lineups for 2018

This coming year Awakenings will celebrate Easter with four editions of its iconic events from March 29 to April 1, including the special daytime show on Easter Sunday April 1. The venue, as always, will be at the Gashouder on the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam.

The Easter special will kick off on Thursday, March 29 with the Adam & Joseph Special. Adam Beyer and Joseph Capriati will also take up position behind the turntables, as will Luigi Madonna and Roberto Capuano.

Ben Klock & Marcel Dettmann will be featured on day 2 during the Good Friday Special. Chris Liebing, RÞdhÄd and Kobosil will also be part of the lineup, making this one of the most-anticipated high-octane techno events of the whole series.

Joris Voorn, Kolsch, Pan-Pot, Konstantin and Prunk & Chris Stussy will be taking the stage for the Easter Special by Night on Saturday, March 31.

Finally, on Easter Sunday, the Special by Day will take place. From noon onward doors will be open for Sven VĂ€th, Dubfire, Ilario Alicante, Sam Paganini, Monika Kruse and 2000andOne to perform some great tracks for the crowd.
