Sweet Melodies & Heavy Grooves, Pretty Pink Honors Music’s Power
Pretty Pink has been a mainstay of contemporary melodic deep house for nearly a decade. First rising to prominence in 2013 with her edit of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” the Deep Woods founder has gone on to release on some of the scene’s most established imprints including Sony, Warner, Anjunabeats, and Armada Music. Not many DJs are lucky enough to have gigs fall in their lap, but sometimes stars align ever so brightly. For Pretty Pink, it was life giving her lemons. Ahead of her Los Angeles show in January, the DJ and producer talks about her greatest inspiration: music and what she’s got in store for 2022.

The San Francisco-based producer and co-founder of Thievery Corporation, known for their holistic performances and electronic-infused modifications of dub, trip hop, reggae, and bossa nova, has maintained a prolific career owing to his ever-evolving taste and diverse influences based off the cultures and styles encountered during his travels. Constantly inspired by his surroundings and experiences, Garza’s artistic foresight has always supported a fundamental motif of connecting people through music; such motivations have led him from opening for Paul McCartney with Thievery Corporation, DJing in Nepal for climbers tackling Mt. Everest, to performing in the most obscure clubs in remote corners of the world.
As a solo artist, Rob Garza infuses his own adept house and nu-disco artistry into every one of his productions, boasting a specific style that is perceptive, powerful and globally-stimulated. After moving to San Francisco in 2009, the producer was enlivened by his time traveling with Thievery Corporation and unearthed a new focus on his DJ sets and music.
“When I first came to San Francisco, I returned to my electronic roots in the dance community while also spending a great amount of time in Mexico, where there is a great dance music scene. There’s so much going on in terms of people taking influences from all these different genres — like house and dub and new wave and disco — and putting it all together in a way that’s very new and original and inspiring to my own music.” – Rob Garza

Premiere: Dutch Duo ANOTR Releases ‘Cultural Decline’ On No Art
Consisting of young Jesse van der Heijden and Oguzhan Guney, ANOTR are the house-meets-tech-house revelations of their time. After hours and hours of hard work and tweaks to reach undisputed perfection, the first eye-opening works of the Amsterdam based sparked the interest of record label Armada Music, subsequently leading to the release of summer anthem ‘Strobe’ on Defected records breakout label DFTD in early October 2015.
Despite their tender age, ANOTR have played on summer festival hotspot Ibiza, rewarded their fans with multiple DJ performances during Europe’s main dance music conference Amsterdam Dance Event, and graced plenty more internationally acclaimed clubs, venues, and festivals with their distinctive sound, and unmatched, on-stage energy.

A radio show host, label owner, producer and DJ, Sam has toured all over Europe as well as South America, Australia, Japan and Dominican Republic, with festival highlights including We Are FSTVL, Creamfields, V Festival and Extrema Festival and residencies at several key White Isle clubs such as Ushuaia, Amnesia & Sankeys Ibiza.
