Dr. Dre Speaks Up Against Male-On-Female Violence And Dee Barnes assault: ā€œIt’s A Major Blemish On Who I Am As A Manā€

When N.W.A.’s biopicĀ Straight Outta ComptonĀ came out in 2015, the movie received widespread criticism for the key omission of Dre’s 1991 physical assault on journalist Dee Barnes, as well asĀ his abuse of ex girlfriend Michel’le. The fact that the film was produced by Ice Cube andĀ Dr. DreĀ themselves added fuel to the attacks, who saw the omission as willful.

However things were different during the second episode of HBO’sĀ The Defiant Ones, a four-episode documentary that chronicles the personal, business and intersecting stories of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. In that episode Dr. Dre tackles the incident head-on, and more importantly addresses violence on women more broadly.

“Any man that puts his hands on a female is a fucking idiot. He’s out of his fucking mind, and I was out of my fucking mind at the time. I fucked up, I paid for it, I’m sorry for it, I apologize for it.

Is Apple Going To Block iPhones from Recording Live Concerts?

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

Is it ok to spend time at a club, festival or concert with your phone in the air, taking constant pictures and videos of what’s happening on stage or behind the decks? People are divided on the subject, with some thinking that such use of cellphones disrupts the atmosphere (and views) at a show, while others think it’s their prerogative to do what they want for a show they paid money to attend.

But what if that prerogative didn’t exist? That may be the case soon with the latest patent awarded to Apple! The technology would allow Apple to activate specific data transmission protocols in conjunction with partnering venues to ensure that your iPhone camera is blocked from taking pictures and videos when held up to the stage. In order to do this, it will tap into infrared technology to ensure that the camera is not functioning solely when pointed to designated areas.

Although the patent was last re-filed in 2014, it was originally first awarded in 2011 despite no specific plans to introduce the technology into upcoming generations of iPhones.

According to FACT, the technology could have other uses too. Immediately it becomes obvious that it could be used to prevent the illegal filming of filmsĀ in movie theaters, as well as photography in sensitive locations.

The technology could also be used for augmented reality purposes. As an example, the phone could be held in front of exhibits at a museum or art galleries, immediately becoming the recipient of applicable information via infrared on the item being featured.

Needless to say, as the patent belongs to Apple, this technology shouldn’t prevent Android users from taking advantage of their smart phone cameras when out at their favorite show.

Apple: Bye Bye iTunes Radio, Hello Subscriptions

apple music pic

As of this weekend,Ā Apple‘s iTunes Radio, once an entirely free, ad-supported streaming platform, has ceased to exist in its original incarnation. Earlier this month, Apple announcedĀ that the channels would be integrated into Apple Music, the company’s subscription-based streaming platform. Sadly, that day has come and gone, and the stations are officially no more. Anyone logging into the iOS Music app or iTunes on their computer will encounter a message prompting them to purchase an Apple Music subscription. However, Apple continues to offer the Beats 1 station for free, seemingly an attempt to further the “Beats” brand Ā that the former acquiredĀ in 2014. Upon the 2015 launch of Apple Music, iTunes radio (launched in 2013) was deactivated in regions where the latter service was available, with the exception (until this past weekend) of the US and Australia. While this is surely a major bummer for cash-strapped listeners, the silver lining is that Apple Music will include a number of features belonging to iTunes Radio, such as generating playlists based on a single artist/song and music discovery. From a business perspective, this move makes financial sense for the company at the expense of the consumer, just one of many controversial moves that Apple has made since 2011, when co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs suffered an untimely death brought on by pancreatic cancer.

iPhone 7 Will Not Support Your Headphones

apple iphone banner

In typical fashion, it seems as if Apple is making moves to put the squeeze on its customers, says Forbes. Apparently, the company will be abandoning the standard 3.5mm (1/8″) headphone ports with the upcoming iPhone 7, forcing customers to purchase either dedicated “lightning” plug headphones or bulky adapters to be able to use their existing headphones.

In addition to the enormous amounts of money that consumers will have to shell out, this move will literally create tons of electronic waste in their overseas factories, which most likely will not be recycled. While this move is a big disappointment, it should come as no surprise.

Apple is notorious for arbitrarily changing its cable connectors for new Mac and iOS devices, rendering millions of car chargers and other accessories obsolete every couple of years.
