FREE DOWNLOAD: Anthony Attalla – “What Happened”

Anthont Attalla

In 2004 Harry “Choo Choo” Romero released What Happened, an EP on that came armed with a strong, dance floor-ready Dub remix of the same-title track by none other than Erick Morillo.

Featuring Jessica Eve on vocals, the same-title track “What Happened” was undeniably one of the hits of that year. Catchy and fast-packed, the minimal looped chunky track  was part of that signature sound that characterized the rising career of the one they called Choo Choo and his remixer for the occasion, Subliminal boss Erick Morillo.

Now, Incorrect Music chief Anthony Attalla has taken the track and given it a complete rework, the finished product already receiving major play by big-name DJs throughout the summer. While the catchy acapella remains,  Attalla’s power lays in the unmistakable and signature step and bounce he has added, as well as the sensual dreamlike melody that permeates the track before kicking back into full groove mode. The tech-heavy result is nothing short of fantastic: a dance floor-ready anthem that has been making people groove throughout summer in dance floors throughout the world.

6AM Exclusive: Ramon Tapia – “Dust/Pom Granade” EP on Incorrect Music

RamonTapia

Belgium’s Ramon Tapia makes his return to Anthony Attalla‘s Incorrect Music imprint with “Dust” and “Pom Granade”, two tech-house tracks that highlight the producer’s propensity for hard-grooving yet sultry drum lines. This 6AM exclusive premiere EP also includes two strong remixes of “Pom Granade” by Leftwing & Kody and Rich Wakley.

With “Dust”, Tapia hits the ground running right from the start, laying down fast-paced drum lines accompanied by an unmistakeable bounce. At 2:04 the track picks up as it introduces a series of machine-like horns that build up to a dark crescendo. “Dust” highlights Tapia’s signature groove in what is certainly a dance floor-ready track.

“Pom Granade”, in comparison, is definitely as slower yet well-balanced affair. The track is characterized by a repeated vocal snippet, as the listener is told “I am addicted to you” by a broken mechanical voice that begins as male and morphs mid-sentence. The choppy vocals are surrounded by a variety of sparse, spatial and soft sounds, giving the piece a more minimalistic feel than “Dust”. Leftwing & Kody almost strip “Pom Granade” with their work, the male influence gone as the vocals remain high-pitched and become the true focus of the track as they repeat and echo.  Rich Wakley’s remix, on the other hand, gives the track a bigger sound as the vocals become entirely masculine, more pronounced and a the tracks assumes a heavier bounce throughout.

The beauty of the EP, with its remixes, lies in its versatility. While both originals are perfect tracks to deploy on any dance floor if you’re looking for extra groove, each remix adds another layer of depth depending on the setting and direction of performance. It’s a safe bet to assume we will be hearing plenty of of this release pool-side during next month’s Miami Music Week.

The tracks are available for purchase on Beatport and for your listening pleasure below.

6AM Exclusive Premiere: Anthony Attalla – “F1/Why Do You” out on Yoshitoshi

Anthony Attalla

To say that Anthony Attalla has had a meteoric rise in the last couple of years would be a big understatement. The Detroit native and Chicago resident has come up through the ranks thanks to strong releases on his own Incorrect Music label, Sharam’s Yoshitoshi and other world-renowned imprints such as Suara and Toolroom. Coupled with the ever-popular Incorrect Label showcases including the famous Groove Cruise Incorrect Afterhours, Attalla has created a massive cult following in the States and beyond.

Following past strong releases on the Yoshitoshi label including “Stranger” and “Fever,” Attalla returns exclusively through 6AM Group with two dance floor-ready heavy hitters right in time for the New Year.

“F1” immediately strikes as a must-have in any house DJ’s arsenal. Its bass-heavy staccato and bumpy groove is not only hypnotic but serves both as the fitting track amidst other dance-friendly records and to raise things to the next level in any set.

Conversely, “Why Do You” is muddier in all the right ways. Leaning towards techno, the track is armed with frenzied percussions and infectious bass. Its cloudy and enigmatic vocals give a sense of respite from the heavier techno, making this a track that fits a wide range of sounds.

This release arrives in perfect time for the New Year, and right in the middle of Attalla’s tour in Thailand. If you’re in the LA area, make sure to catch him in action at Exchange with Suara boss Coyu on the 2nd of January as he returned for a series of US dates for Winter 2016!
