This week’s Global Vibe Radio mix comes straight from the White Isle, a Live recording of Hybrasil‘s set on the Amnesia Terrace at Carl Cox & Game Over’s One Night Stand.
On this night Hybrasil performed before Adam Beyer and Carl Cox, and this set features a number of tracks from the Hybrasil label as well as some unreleased studio projects.
Having already spent 15 incredible years at Space Ibiza, the Game Over crew are back with a bold and brave new concept for 2018 that sees the one and only Carl Cox headline a series of very special one-off parties at some of Ibiza’s most iconic clubs including Pacha, DC10 and Amnesia. This comes off the back of Game Over being thrown into the unknown after the closure of Space but coming together to blow the roof off Privilege last season and winning the Best Ibiza Music Event at last years DJ Awards for Pure Carl Cox.
Game Over’s ONE NIGHT STAND will kick off the tour in Ibiza’s most famous venues for a string of power parties over the 2018 season. Amnesia, Pacha and underground favorite DC10 will play host to the Game Over crew during Summer 2018 with a stripped back, no-frills party policy that will offer clubbers a One Night Stand to remember.
Usually when a DJ ends their residency at a club there is a feeling of sadness among the club’s patrons, and especially so if the DJ has shown to have the charisma and the talent to draw the crowd whenever they perform. However, this particular farewell at an Ibiza club is somewhat “different”, to say the least.
This is not surprising, considering the DJ in question is Paris Hilton.
This past summer Sven Väth celebrated Cocoon‘s 17th consecutive year in Ibiza. The record-label and party series calls Amnesia its home on Monday nights and hosts some of the most celebrated names in techno, minimal and house.
To mark the occasion, the label chief has carefully selected 26 tracks to form up a two-disc mix compilation entitled “The Sound Of The 17th Season.” Scheduled for November 25th, the Cocoon Recordings release will feature original tracks from top-tier artists including Eddie Fowlkes, Danny Daze, Slam, Robert Hood’s Floorplan project, Sven himself and remixes from Roman Flügel, André Galluzzi and Kölsch.
This summer Amnesia has faced increased difficulties with local officials, first at the hand of police investigating the club for tax fraud as part of Operation Chopin, and then for parties going past approved finished time. The venue’s owner, Martin Ferrer, and three workers including his son were arrested and then released on bail as part of the ongoing investigation that has now uncovered over €2 million in cash hidden at the club and in various deposit boxes belonging to Ferrer.

Following two long raids at Amnesia Ibiza by Spanish authorities, including an initial seventeen-hour search and a second one that uncovered over 2 million Euros in cash stashed in hidden compartments, the Tax Agency (AEAT) of Spain has gone on to search Space and Privilege.
Local news outlet Diario de Ibiza, who has kept abreast on the investigation, reports that the AEAT is looking into around 87 nightlife spots across the entire country of Spain, including four on the Balearic island and international clubbing destination. Four people were arrested during the Amnesia raids, with a total of fourteen individuals reportedly under investigation at the current moment.
The AEAT was assisted by Police in their searches of Space and Privilege, with latest reports claiming that other large sums of money were found during these latter parts of the ongoing Operation Chopin investigation.
According to another Spanish newspaper, El Mundo, the four people arrested in the Amnesia operation have been given conditional release — they must periodically appear before a judge and cannot leave Spain without permission. Their passports must also be handed in to authorities as part of their release.
Following a 17-hour search of the San Rafael mega-club, Spanish police returned to Amnesia Ibiza this morning to continue their investigation.
Local news outlet Diario de Ibiza continued to keep on top of the story, first reporting that police searched the venue from 7am until midnight, before allowing it to re-open for Together. It was at first unsure whether the party would still go on, Together even tweeting that it was canceled before announcing that it was still happening.
As reported yesterday, a total of four people have been arrested as part of the investigation: Amnesia owner Martin Ferrer, his son and Amnesia’s artistic director Marti Ferrer, the venue’s general/business manager David de Felipe and Amnesia accountant Vicente Pérez de Montis.
The Diario de Ibiza has continued to report that the investigation is looking into “alleged crimes against the Treasury” and has expanded its raids to the suspects’ properties in Ibiza and Barcelona, as well as a boat owned by club owner Martin Ferrer and an Ibiza-based IT company linked with the club.
Edit 5:20pm EST: According to Diario de Ibiza, police have been using pick axes to find hidden compartments at Amnesia and discovered over €2 million in cash hidden inside the club. The investigation began following a complaint filed last fall by the state alleging that they had detected discrepancies in their tax payments.
The club will remain open tonight for Hyte, as announced by the promoter on social media networks.
Spanish police stormed Amnesia Ibiza and arrested the club owner.
The news was broken by Diario de Ibiza, who revealed that Spanish Guardia Civil raided the San Rafael clubbing institution arriving via helicopter at 8am local time. While reports on the exact nature of the operation are a little confusing, it appears to be a joint operation with tax authorities, drug and organized crime authorities as well as trained dogs. El Mundo asserted that this is an anti-drug sting, confirming that a total of four people have been arrested at Amnesia, including owner Martin Ferrer.
There appears to be a level of secrecy surrounding the operation, but a spokesman for the Guardia Civil in Majorca confirmed, “There is an operation in progress but the court secrecy order means we won’t be making a detailed official comment today or sending out a press release.”
UPDATE 3:51pm PST: Amnesia will be open tonight for Together.
Electronic music fans around the world have been preparing for what is set to be the last summer of Carl Cox’s Music Is Revolution residency at Space Ibiza.
At first, it was thought that the legend would never play on the Island again, possibly retiring from DJing and touring altogether. Cox has since told the world, via a cover interview with Mixmag, that none of those rumors are true.
In fact, the British icon will not only continue to tour, but will still be featured in a few Ibiza lineups throughout the summer of 2017 and subsequent years.
The 2016 Ibiza season is officially underway. DC-10 recently opened with the famed Circoloco event, and many more of the island’s super clubs are preparing for their openings over the next few days. However, there is a level of anticipation and curiosity surrounding this season; certainly much more than years past.
For starters: Richie Hawtin isn’t returning with his ENTER residency, Space has been taken over by Ushuaia, and Ibiza is implementing a new tax for tourists visiting the island, among other headlines. But what got everyone stirring late last year was the news that all clubs would be forced to close no later than 6:30AM. While this may be more than reasonable at clubbing destinations all over the world (generally speaking), it does not align with the ethos of Ibiza’s long standing culture in electronic music.
To drive the point home further, Amnesia Ibiza has issued a statement to notify everyone of changes to their opening programming. In years past the club has been allowed to go well past the normal closing time, but there are more rigid regulations in place this year that will cause the venue to be flexible in their scheduling for the 2016 opening. Amnesia Ibiza will now be opening at 4:00PM to abide by the new regulations while still conducting their famed 14 hour opening.
You can read the official statement below, and it begs the question – Which Ibiza club will be the first to go past new regulations?
The official statement from Amnesia Ibiza reads as follows:
10 years ago, we had to fight alone against the schedule restrictions on the clubs and the “afterhours” prohibition in Ibiza, that supossed to us the sanction to close for 1 month in 2007.
At this year 2016 and trough the constant pressures by the institutions of the island, restricting the schedule´s clubs to promote other interests and having accepted and paid all the fines that have been imposed us and deny one more time the exceptionality of a morning schedule for the Opening.
Although don´t share the decision of the official institutions and before this drastic negative, Amnesia has decided to accept it and change their Opening time from 16: 00h to 06: 00h, producing 14 hours of music followed with new additions on the final Line up as Ricardo Villalobos, Pan – Pot and many more surprises to celebrate the biggest party that Ibiza has seen in a long time and will never forget; because, despite the continuous obstacles and disadvantages that put us on the road, we will fight that the magic continues in Ibiza and avoid that the music stops.
Finally, we apologize for the constant changes of schedule, due to external causes that have wanted to avoid the most important event of the summer that has held and affected many of you personally.

See you on the 28th of May, family!
