A new collective born out of the boom of live online streaming performances in response to COVID drops today on the techno and house scene: Transduction Signal Collective. Transduction Signal Collective was formed by Trovarsi, founder of Southern California Synth Society, and C.K. Sample, co-founder of Club Eurorack and founder of Modules Discord. The pair formed the collective with the intention of encouraging artists to reach new heights by using a variety of electronic musical instruments in their productions and live sets. Read more
In these trying and unprecedented times we keep seeing artists take the opportunity to help fans, peers and music fans world over in many ways. And let’s be honest, all electronic music producers could benefit from some free Ableton sample kits right now!
Some are live streaming sets, others are releasing free music download or posting Bandcamp discounts. Spearheaded by Kyle Geiger, a group of four well-respected techno artists are taking the initiative to provide Ableton tutorials and sample packs to aspiring and established producers, giving them tools to work with while in the studio, practicing social distancing and quarantine measures enacted to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are teaming up with IO Music Academy in Los Angeles to give you the chance to win a full 12-month scholarship to their music production program and mentorship worth ($3,750 value) and a copy of Ableton Live 10 Suite ($799 value).
IO Music Academy is a place for producers to create, connect and collaborate. Centered around Ableton Live, our curriculum covers Music Theory, Sound Design, Mixing & Mastering, Vocal Recording, and most importantly, finishing music.
A couple months ago, along with the release of Live 9.5 and Push 2, Ableton announced the forthcoming release of Link, the company’s brand new technology that would allow users to wirelessly sync Ableton Live software with a number of compatible iOs apps via wireless or ethernet connection. We are pleased to announce that the day has finally arrived, as Link is now available with the newest software update 9.6). By allowing devices to synchronize beat, phase, and tempo, removing the inevitable MIDI routing nightmare that come with the territory of hardware production. The number of compatible apps has been steadily increasing, including products like Audiobus and Korg’s Gadget; visit the Ableton website for the full list.

Ableton users, we have a special treat in store for you guys. The Berlin-based firm has just dropped a massive update to their array of products with Live 9.5, Push 2, and the forthcoming Link.
First and foremost, Live 9.5 comes with a complete overhaul of the already-powerful Simpler, including a new interface, warping and slicing capabilities, and new analog-modeled filters. These filters, developed by Cytomic, feature classic analog functions such as self-resonance, and also be incorporated into Sampler, Operator, and Auto Filter.
Additionally, we find three new Max for Live instruments: Bass is a gritty monosynth designed for, well, you guessed it… bass. Poli, on the other hand, is a polyphonic synth that really shines at stabs, pads, and strings. Finally, Multi is a synth created for real-time modulation via push.
Arguably the most exciting of the new releases is Push 2, an updated version of their enormously popular Push controller. No longer co-developed with Akai, the new Push 2 takes music making with Ableton to a whole new level.
Push 2 features a larger, hi-res RGB screen, a bigger touchstrip with more LEDs, and more pad controls that are more responsive, smoother, and softer than before. If you have already purchased the original Push, don’t be too dismayed. Push owners can trade in their controller for up to a 30% discount on Push 2, and all used controllers will be donated to children’s educational programs, free of charge. Click here for more info on the trade-in program.
Last, but certainly not least, is Link, a technology that allows Ableton users to wirelessly sync devices to play in real-time with your friends. Although Link is not yet available, Ableton has announced that it will be launching very soon as a free update for Live users.
