6AM Guest Mix: Freeman 713

This week’s featured Guest Mix artist is Freeman 713 — a DJ/Producer hailing from the hills of Northern California. Throwback Thursday: How Much Has Marco Carola’s Sound Evolved Over The Years?

MarcoCarola

The Music On founder has been a very well known veteran DJ and producer in the dance industry for the best part of the last twenty years. From creating one of the most well-respected and followed labels to mixing for 24 hours at Sunwaves Festival in 2015 (and trying to break that record in 2016), he is known for always giving his best behind the turntables, and for his focus on music quality above all else.

For all these reasons he has amounted a massive and loyal following, including ourselves. Given that he’s a seasoned pro and has been in the scene over twenty-five years, for Throwback Thursday we decided to take a look at how his sound evolved from his early days to today.

We compared these two sets from the late 90’s and early 00’s to his BPM 2016 Music On mix. Although it was certainly a different techno scene 16 years ago, it is interesting to see that Carola went from mixing at roughly 150bpm to a slower 130bpm sound, perhaps finding his place in a more groovy blend of techno and tech house than his original roots may have suggested

Listen and determine for yourself how much his sound has changed over the years.
