French artist Submarine FM premiere “Coquillages” marks his first single from his upcoming album Crawl. The album is set to release November 20, 2020 via the Slab Note Label. The single will be available on all digital platforms July 22, 2020.
Trained at the National School of Music in Villeurbanne (FR), he first started to play drums in the Jazz section. But the creative energy and do it yourself system that he discovers in the alternative world, the underground parties and sound system culture, lead him to sound experimentation using digital technologies as well as analogue and modular synthesizers.
French artist Submarine FM sails above and underwater, and even between both thanks to his periscope. Transversality characterizes his approach to music. Solo, his productions draw their influences as much from dub as from minimal techno or ambient. Big fan of harmonic writing based on repetition, melodies close to pop and textures of modular and analog synthesizers, his live shows are an invitation to discover the depths of sound.
Sometimes, my machines make strange sounds, so I like to imagine what they are trying to draw. On this track, I believe that it is the sound of shells which collide with the tide. It’s also the most techno track on my album. I think my friends from Sale Affaire (analog techno liveband composed of the duo Maze, Submarine FM and Calling Marian) have influenced this composition a little!
