Television fanatics around the world have been buzzing about Stranger Things, an American supernatural science fiction horror television series recently released exclusively on Netflix.
The show is set in a 1980’s small town in Indiana, beautifully playing homage to 1980’s pop culture, including among others the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, Stephen King, Rob Reiner, and George Lucas as well as the great music that was permeating radio waves of the United States and the world at the time.
Released globally on Netflix on the 15th of July, Stranger Things received positive reviews for its characterization, pacing, atmosphere, acting, directing, writing, homages to 1980s genre films and soundtrack. The latter has been dubbed as the “most talked about TV soundtrack of 2016” by Rolling Stone,
Fans of the show, and its beautiful synth-filled score, can now enjoy a 52-minute mix by DJ Yoda, completely inspired by the show, the tracks it features and music that it was influenced by.
The mixtape includes favorites from 1983 (when Stranger Things is set) laced with samples from the Netflix original series, so expect Dolly Parton, Toto, Jeffersons Airplane, The Clash, Joy Division and Foreigner mixed with dialogue from Chief Hopper, Jonathan and Nancy.
