6AM Exclusive: Ramon Tapia – “Dust/Pom Granade” EP on Incorrect Music

Belgium’s Ramon Tapia makes his return to Anthony Attalla‘s Incorrect Music imprint with “Dust” and “Pom Granade”, two tech-house tracks that highlight the producer’s propensity for hard-grooving yet sultry drum lines. This 6AM exclusive premiere EP also includes two strong remixes of “Pom Granade” by Leftwing & Kody and Rich Wakley.

With “Dust”, Tapia hits the ground running right from the start, laying down fast-paced drum lines accompanied by an unmistakeable bounce. At 2:04 the track picks up as it introduces a series of machine-like horns that build up to a dark crescendo. “Dust” highlights Tapia’s signature groove in what is certainly a dance floor-ready track.

“Pom Granade”, in comparison, is definitely as slower yet well-balanced affair. The track is characterized by a repeated vocal snippet, as the listener is told “I am addicted to you” by a broken mechanical voice that begins as male and morphs mid-sentence. The choppy vocals are surrounded by a variety of sparse, spatial and soft sounds, giving the piece a more minimalistic feel than “Dust”. Leftwing & Kody almost strip “Pom Granade” with their work, the male influence gone as the vocals remain high-pitched and become the true focus of the track as they repeat and echo.  Rich Wakley’s remix, on the other hand, gives the track a bigger sound as the vocals become entirely masculine, more pronounced and a the tracks assumes a heavier bounce throughout.

The beauty of the EP, with its remixes, lies in its versatility. While both originals are perfect tracks to deploy on any dance floor if you’re looking for extra groove, each remix adds another layer of depth depending on the setting and direction of performance. It’s a safe bet to assume we will be hearing plenty of of this release pool-side during next month’s Miami Music Week.
