Despite his young age, Cali Lanauze has been around for a quite some time already. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a small island in Caribbean, Cali started in the music industry at a very young age getting support from heavyweights like Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Radio Slave, Dj Sneak and more for his productions.
Now promoting and producing events in his native island of Puerto Rico, he is establishing his mark in the industry more than ever, curating weekly lineups and sharing the decks with DJs like Dixon, Art Department, Guy Gerber, Damian Lazarus, Lee Burridge, Dj Tennis and many more. Cali has been able to releases on some of the most respected labels worldwide, while playing main cities in the United States like New York, Miami, Washington DC and touring Mexico, Panama and Honduras.
In 2017 he launched his own record label, called Opulence, on which he is releasing his Flyg EP collab EP with Jonny Cruz (featuring remixes by Moscoman and Roman Flügel) this coming September 7th.
We recently caught up with the multi-talented Cali and asked him to share his favorite spots in Puerto Rico.

Piñones is one of my favorite spots in the metro area, is basically a small street in the north coast surrounded by jungle. Native people and the big Dominican community are famous because of mainly the street food and the “day drinking” vibe there’s around that community. This is one of hundreds of beautiful beaches around the island but this is 15mins away from my house so its the one I frequent more. I try to bring all my guest to this spot: La Patio. I think its private but its really not. haha

Venues in Puerto Rico come and go, that’s one of the main problems we have. But in the last 6-8 months this place and the promoters have been doing a great job with the bookings and the vibe in that place. Everyone from tINI to Barack to Mike Shannon have played there and they have love it. Recently did a killer 5 hour b2b set with Subb an and the place went crazy.

This is one is quite funny as this is one of my best friends house. This is where we after party, where we chill , where we listen to all my new music and more. Its just just my closest friends their chilling. (ps: he has a KILLER sound system from his grandfather)

I love to come to this place, it has a really unique vibe. Its a Craft Cocktail Bar with in Old San Juan. It has 5 rooms and every room has it’s own vibe and its own music. Great cocktails & great vibe.

I can’t decide in just one of my favorite restaurants, but these are on top of my list. For some proper Puertorrican food, Ropa Vieja is one of my favorite ones. PB Ysla is a restaurant by Chef Jose Mendin in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he’s one of the best Dj’s around the world right now. And for the best sushi, Taiky is the one.
