India is calling this time of the year at Jannowitz Records, and for this release they have gathered three of Indiaâs finest producers to serve you what they call the India Calling EP.
Letâs start in the east of the billion people country. You should remember Ash Roy. The Calcutta based artist was the one mixing this yearâs Circle Compilation just a few weeks ago. For Jannowitz’s May release he contributed a track that will remind you of the old rave days with driving synth lines and forward stomping kicks. His remixer, Ben Champell, gave it a much darker touch. Ben is debuting on Jannowitz Records with his remix after releasing on labels like Ballroom Music and Blufin Records and mixing a Jannowitz podcast some weeks ago in the past.
Then we travel from Ash Royâs Calcutta to New Delhi in the north of India, where Calm Chor is based. Heâs been making music for almost two decades now and is known for his spacey and science fiction inspired dance floor tracks, meaning you should not expect any less than an evil and astronomic yet groovy floor sweeper from âPower Failâ. Young Spanish artist Emilio Rozalen aka Rosper converted âPower Failâ into a progressive, Jannowitz style number.
Progressive is also what you could call the third track that is located in the south of India and the countryâs biggest city, Bombay. Diatonikâs âThe Callingâ seems to be an homage to his last EP on Jannowitz Records named Odyssey. The track keeps up with the powerful atmosphere and the deep basslines, which leads us to the last remixer and probably one of the most exhausting tracks ever released on the label, with no one less than Drumcomplex himself chosen for the remix duties. The result is a chirping acid number that is made for raw and industrial club nights with dripping sweat and ecstatic dance moves.
