Kreis Recordings return to the fold on their 2nd Single. Following up their debut release which was heavy yet a groovy techno number, we see them follow a similar winning format of a original work, plus an in house remix from Muirdel & Vinny Caparatti.
Fronting up this time we have Dave Fuller with Wavey, the original is a masterpiece of snappy rhythm and solid groove, juxtaposed against the backdrop of a simple but ripping bass part which pushes the track on, despite its simplicity. Often the simplest things are the hardest to get right, and the man nails it on the head with “Wavey”.
Kicking off the rework we have an almost cold war like siren vibe, immediately the shift of gears sets the tone. Galloping bass and almost minimal-esque percussion draw you into the soundscape they build for you, the remix really takes the subtle hints of the original and reworks them into a fully realized world. Where the original was direct and forceful, this one is subtle and fleshed out. The 2nd record is always an important one for any label and with KRS002 from Dave Fuller, they have stuck the landing perfectly.
