After almost a decade of collaborations in Berlin ranging from studio production to radio shows, party series to record label work, it was time for La Fraicheur & Leonard de Leonard to launch a new facet of their symbiotic exchange: a live duo project. Here, they showcase what that project is all about with their second collaboration EP, out on A-TRACTION Records as part of the label’s 20 Year Anniversary.
Going into this project with their joint experiences as DJs and producers, they have come up with a formula and a vision that has the dancers as central focus.
From Leonard de Leonard collaborating with techno veteran Florian Meindl to La Fraicheur producing her debut album in Detroit during a residency with Underground Resistance, these two artists push forward a long-lasting passion for techno.
After their first EP âSang Chaudâ on Leonizer records, theyâre back with 3 techno and industrial flavors including remixes by 6SISS (R&S records / User Experience) who delivers a power rhythmic vision followed by the first collaboration of Southsoniks with Marc Ayats (A-TRACTION Recordsâ founder) a peak time track with a crazy break!
Enjoy the exclusive premiere of the title track below.
More About La Fraicheur
For over a decade now, first in Paris, then Berlin and now Barcelona, La Fraicheur has been making a name for herself with her signature sound of powerful and emotionally charged driving Techno sets. Former resident DJ in Berlin’s renowned Wilde Renate & Mensch Meier, member of the Female:Pressure network, regular DJ at Berlin kink parties Gegen, Pornceptual, Buttons & House of Red Doors, the queer feminist activist is a marathon DJ who can go on for countless hours, long narrative trip-like sets being her
favorites.
Expanding her craft by producing her own music ranging from ravy epic Techno to dark pumping Electro, spacious open air Deep House to melancholic Electronica, she wrote her critically acclaimed debut
album during an artist residency at the Underground Resistance HQ in Detroit. Released in June 2018 on French label InFinĂ©, followed by the Weltschmerz EP in May 2019, her solo music garnered quite the media support (Resident Advisor, Mixmag, XLR8R, DJ Mag, I-D and more) As she envisions both Electronic Music and the Club creative scene as impactful political spaces, La Fraicheur launched an intersectional fundraiser, diverting the industry standard of the egocentric Merch into a tool for awareness by creating t-shirts with feminist messages whose integral benefits are donated to NGOs fighting for women’s rights, trans people’s rights, asylum seekers rights and LGBTQI rights.
She has toured all over Europe, North & South Americaand Asia, including at Burning Man, Fusion, Garbicz Festival, Dour or famed clubs such as Tresor, About Blank, KitKat Club, Prince Charles or Kater Holzig to name a few.
More About Leonard de Leonard
Trying to file artists under labels, may it be by genres or activities, is an understandable shortcut for efficiency. But with Berlin-based French musician Leonard de Leonard, you might find yourself in a slump. For over two decades now a producer, a sound designer, a label founder, a remixer, an international
DJ, a party organizer, a sound engineer, Leonard de Leonard has piled up an impressive body of work traveling all over the board both solo and in collaborations, from techno with Florian Meindl or La Fraicheur, Deep House with Funkstörungâs Chris De Luca or Humantronic, Slow Dark Indie Dance with Andrew Claristidge or Rodion, Italo Disco House with Hard Ton and Electro Hip Hop with Maxx Stoyanoff Williams from The Goats.
With all of them and in his personal work, heâs been using his signature full and spacious sound with a
warm bouncy feel to it, originating in his unconditional geek love for the countless analog gear and modular synths his studio was filled with over the years. Making the most out of this hardware love, he launched the Sound Provider studio where he does mixing and mastering for all sorts of electronic music
as well as more pop and rock-oriented projects. He also created under the same name a collection of sound
banks (drum hits and loops) that quickly became producers’ best friends.
