Anyone who’s followed Anna Tur over the years will know all too well that this is a lady who values soul and groove more than anything else. Regardless of whether she’s spinning in underground clubs or to vast crowds, the Ibiza native and Ibiza Global Radio boss has always maintained a penchant for upfront dance floor dynamics.
On her latest, she returns to her Illusion Music Records label courtesy of a release that’s filled to the brim with peak-time flavors. Needless to say, the Yeu Yeu Yeu EP is a release that’s never lacking in attitude or personality throughout, proven by the fact that it’s already earned repeated plays and support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Barber, Chicks Luv Us, Riva Starr, Carlos Sanchez, Davina Moss, Mat.Joe and Caal Smile.
Opening up the release is the sounds of “Yeu Yeu Yeu”. A relatively restrained effort, this one nonetheless boasts its own undoubted appeal. Full of drama and suspense, it’s a tech-house track that never reverts to cliché but instead speaks volumes of the genre at its forceful best. A stirring and at times hypnotic cut with samples of traditional Ibizan chants, it’s similar in sound and structure to some of Dennis Ferrer’s most adept productions.
The other side to Tur’s production prowess is on show courtesy of “Acid Shout”. Another serious statement of intent, it’s full of clever acid lines, the likes of which are structured together to create a track with very clear dance floor intentions. A wily DJ tool that’s full of character, it’s a discerning cut that’s sure to elicit many a smile wherever it’s dropped. Expertly produced and bagging tons of energy, it’s indicative of a welcome return to the production field for the Ibiza native.
