In the wake of the popularity of the #MeToo movement, there has never been a greater awareness for women’s rights than now. As a result, the call for greater representation and opportunities for women is louder than ever, and while there is still a long way to go, this definitely the case in the electronic music industry.
Recently, however, the one of the leading ladies of house and techno, Nina Kraviz, offered a different viewpoint.
In an interview with Channel 4 news, Kraviz said that  she doesnât believe women should receive special treatment, nor should receive different level of support compared to men because, as she pointed out, “itâs like a reverse form of sexism.”.
âI just want to support talented people,” she said. “Iâve been challenged a lot in my professional life. Itâs not been always easy, as you might imagine. To be a successful artist requires a lot of effort… some of them sacrificed their whole life, literally. Itâs not only this glittery aspect of being famous. Itâs just bloody hard sometimes.”
This may seem to be a controversial stand, especially among a number of “feminists,” but Nina Kraviz stresses that she wants people to look at talent rather than gender.
