Before he became known as Maceo Plex, American DJ and producer Eric Estornel started out as the mysterious Mariel Ito. As Mariel Ito, he was active during the early 2000s and gained popularity thanks to Estornelâs experimentation on electro sounds. He delivered a bunch of releases under this moniker during 2005 and 2006 including an EP on Modern Love and an album on SCSI-AV, to name a few.
Now, 12 years after his last release on Modern Love, Estormel returns to his electro alias Mariel Ito as he is set to release an album on R&S Records and an EP on his imprint Lone Romantic, the imprint he launched with the recent Maceo Plex LP âSolarâ in summer 2017.
His new EP is entitled “2e Komst” which is set to be released on January 26th. The EP brings two new tracks âSintex49â and âDmode90â that illustrates the electro edge of his sound with the recognizable obscure synths and electrifying samples of his productions.
In addition, Mariel Ito will release a retrospective album this May on R&S Records titled “2000-2005” This album will feature unreleased tracks from that time and will be followed by a new EP on R&S later in the summer. As a teaser, one track from the album has been shared, a track originally released in 2004.
Further details on the EP and album are set to follow soon.
