We travel to Asia for this week’s episode of Global Vibe Radio, showcasing Hong Kong based techno producer and DJ Romi.
Romi’s mix reflects his wide musical background, yet carrying a very specific sound. His style has developed into a strain of techno/house that is consistently directed towards generating an atmospheric abyss, complimenting it with equally mesmerizing soundscapes thrown in at the right moments. His sets are deep, yet pure – even filled with a certain degree of emptiness. It is this emptiness which invites the listener to get lost on an individual journey of possibilities.
With several releases under his belt, including on the highly-respected Oslated Seoul and ECI Korea, Romi is one of Asia’s truly promising artists. Oslated is a label for underground local artists in and around Seoul that has been building a platform that assembles talented local underground musicians, with the aim of supporting them through an international podcast series and local party series, as well as by releasing music from artists, such as Romi, who they feel truly represent the vibrant music scene of Seoul, Korea and surrounding countries.
