Good news for Kraftwerk and electronic music fans in Buenos Aires: a court has reversed the decision to ban this month’s 3D show by the German dance music outfit.
Despite an initial approval, last week city officials decided to ban a Kraftwerk show planned for November 23rd at the Luna Park Stadium, referencing the much broader ban on electronic music festivals enacted by a local court following five deaths at Time Warp Argentina this past April. When the Kraftwerk show was denied permits, city representatives reasoned that while it was not a dance music festival per se, it was regarded as one as the music used “synthesizers or samplers [are] their primary instrument.”
Argentine news outlet Clarín has now reported that a Buenos Aires court reversed the decision allowing for the show to go on. Judge Lisandro Fastman made another important statement, asking for a revision of the original ban on large electronic music festivals so that the language is clearer and much narrower. At the moment it’s not clear what specific changes will be made to the original ban, although the Kraftwerk show will go ahead as planned.
