Hummingbird by BPZ is a label that releases in both vinyl and digital formats, and the imprints catalogue includes Re.you, Varoslav, Mike Shannon, Yaya, Future Legend and Fork-Tailed Woodnymph.

Showcasing his own timeless style, Benjamin Philippe Zulauf has a sound inspired by people ranging from Jeff Mills to DJ Sotofett. His sound has elements of classic Detroit techno blended with the stripped back grooves of modern-day house music.

‘Dagid Part II’ is the name of this EP and it features four very well produced tracks that have a raw and analogue sound, which at times is a little rough around the edges due to them having a live and improvised feel.

“Le King Charbon” gets things moving with its whimsical melodies and airy pads that give the track a light and floaty feeling, grounded by the weight of the kick drum. “Subtly Vibing” has melancholic synths and trippy vocals layered with fizzing hats and rolling tom drums. “Exit Reality” is a trippy and abstract track with upbeat percussion dubby pads. “Honkytonks” boxes off the release with crispy hats and a wonky bassline layered with the metallic tones of a springy synth.

Overall, a very well put together release with a continuity of sound but enough variation to keep things interesting.
