I seem to be making it a habit of catching idyllic tropical island festivals in their sophomore year. Â After attending and loving every minute of the 2017 edition of SXM Festival on the island of Saint Martin, I find myself barreling through the sky at 500 MPH towards a proper close out to the year with Epizode Festival on the island of Phu Quoc, Vietnam. Â RIght now, Iâm somewhere over the North Pacific between Kazakhstan and Japan, struggling to contain the excitement that understandably precedes a Carl Cox New Yearâs Eve countdown set. The setting? A verdant tropical island off the coast of Vietnam. Â The best part? Weâre just getting started.
While Epizode may be a relative newcomer on the global festival circuit, donât let the Sophomore label fool you. Epizode is just the latest in a string of successful musical escapades put on by the same team that brought you the wildly successful Kazantip on the Black Sea. Â If that name doesnât ring a bell, lets just say these guys and gals know how to put on a party and Epizode is certainly no exception. Â
After ringing in the near year with Carl Cox, we return for the first Monday of 2018 to an eclectic mix of Trance with John 00 Flemming, a spattering of Drum and Bass with Aphrodite, and a whole slew of other names we donât recognize but are super excited to discover.

Although most of the more recognizable names like Ăme, Dixon, Nic Fanciulli, Chris Liebing, Mathew Jonson, Marcel Dettman, Nicole Moudaber, Pan Pot, Luciano, Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed and too many other names to list wonât get going till the later half of the week, weâre excited to get a taste of this unique festival and hoping we like enough of what we see to return for more next year. Â In the meantime, check in as we provide daily highlights and updates from our first taste of proper partying in Vietnam.
