Trax RecordsĀ is virtually synonymous with house music; the Chicago-based label hasĀ launched the careers of dozens of artists, including pioneers such as Marshall Jefferson and the late Frankie Knuckles. The first label dedicated exclusively to house music, Trax RecordsĀ has facilitated the genre’s spread through it’s entire existense. Let’s travel back to the early days of house, when the and 808 reignedĀ king and theirĀ grooves ruled above all else. Artists like DJ Pierre, Phuture, and Maurice Joshua got truly whacky with their 303 synths, creating the “acid house” sound that would resonate both at home and overseas. These acid house pioneers would pave the way for and greatly influence theĀ development of rave culture in 1990’s UK. Here areĀ some of ourĀ favorite “Acid Trax.”
DJ Pierre – Box Energy (1988)
Phuture – Acid Tracks (1987)
Maurice Joshua – This Is Acid (1988)Ā
