On July 26th, the UK-based promoters behind Love Amplified will be bringing their brand to Ibiza for their first ever headline event.
Taking place at the iconic Benimussa Park, the open-air party will be headlined by Heidi, Dusky, Josh Butler and MelĂ©, with Kerri Chandlerâs MadHouse brand fronting the Seal Pit with DâJulz, Black Loops, Dennis Quin and DJ Steaw in tow.
Despite having promoted events in the UK for over ten years and with a solid line-up to back them up, breaking onto what is the music industryâs most competitive market is never going to be easy. We caught up with the guys to find out a bit more about what it takes to run an event in Ibiza, and the kind of things you have to consider if you are planning to make a success of it.
One of the main hurdles of programming an event in Ibiza is that a lot of DJs have commitments to other parties on the island, so you donât have the same freedom to book artists as you would in your home town. There is so much going on already that itâs pretty much impossible to not to be going up against another event, but you have to feel confident that what youâre trying to create is going to pull a crowd and try and make it stand out as something different.
We booked a line-up with artists from all over Europe but I donât feel itâs a complete must as the artists on our line-up have fans all over the world. I think you have to have variety to appeal to everyone, but itâs also important that youâre keeping the vibe of the party the same. Obviously, the UK audience is important to us but the whole point of going to the island is to try and attract an international crowd and create a larger following.
The marketing strategy has been focused on a much larger audience than usual and weâve tried to get it in front of as many people as possible on social media and other media outlets. The ground promotion on the island also plays a major role in the marketing strategy.
Typically, in Ibiza tickets are bought last minute â a lot of people tend to buy their tickets on the island instead of prior to the event like you would back home. That said, you still want to have a have as much PR out as possible before the event though, so people actually know about it before heading to Ibiza. Unlike back home, your whole audience is in one place looking to party somewhere, so you have to be on every stand, wall and stall possible during the week leading up to the event. You want to be utilising every bit of promo material or angles you have available to you that week before the event because thatâs when it really counts.
I feel Ibiza is in need of a new day party, one thatâs not all about over-the-top production and confetti. People want to go and party to quality music at an event during the day, and in an open-air venue which is totally unique to anywhere else on the island. The sole purpose of Amplified Ibiza is to try and deliver the best experience possible by taking things back basics, with nothing but a strong line up in what we think is the best day party venue in Ibiza.
We, like most other promoters, started running events out of pure passion. Youâve got to keep that love for what you are doing as the focus of every event, or youâll quickly burn out and your events will lose the energy that makes them unique. Obviously, itâs not sustainable to run at a loss with everything you do, but if you focus on putting on great events, everything else will fall into place.
