For Secret Music‘s 13th release, the label is proud to present a collaboration between ASOY and SLF.
The pair met up one evening, in an east end London studio, hunched over a Syncussion sy-1 and a pile of modulars. A long night followed, and countless hours of music, noise and bleeps were recorded, edited, looped and effected. This is the result: theirĀ Between The BeatĀ EP.
ASOY is London DJ/producer Demi, who is now turning his hand to more techno/house leaning pastures courtesy of his new guise. As you may know, Demi was previously one-third of SOS alongside Omid 16B and Desyn Masielo. On his latest release for the London-based Secret Music, he reminds us that thereās far more to his repertoire than progressive house sounds.
The Eyetone Records boss has won huge acclaim for his sound over the years, and aside from Eyetone and Secret Music, he has also put his name to sounds on the likes of KMS Records, Sunday Best and more. His music meanwhile, has been supported by the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier, Jamie Jones, Black Coffee and Behrouz, while he counts Laurent Garnier, Fred P and Prince as his own major inspirations.
The U.K. based Secret Music label has been putting its hand to intricate house and techno sounds for some time now, with their ability to consistently churn out astute sounding music quickly setting them apart. From Bas Ibellini to Simon Baker to Dantiez, they have hosted music from some of the gameās most intriguing characters. Their latest is another case in point.
āNINAHā is a meandering, captivating piece of simmering techno that keeps the tension high. The underlying arp is punctuated by percussive sound effects, surging waves of synths and escalating claps and snares rolls. Itās an ever oscillating journey, moody and haunting.
āRumblefaceā is a more laid back, trippy affair, with a bouncy bassline, live percussion and modular sound effects. It is perfect for those floaty afternoons by the beach, with a fun, smooth vibe.
AD:mE infuses āNINAHā with his signature sounds, giving it a refreshingly progressive feel, while the chugging rhythm section takes care of driving this remix straight to the dance floor.
