After 2 and a half years at Sound Nightclub, LAās iconic weekly party, the one & only Monday Social, has announced it will be moving a few blocks down Hollywood Blvd to Project Club LA for itās grand re-opening next Monday January 18th.
Monday Social said farewell to their residency at Sound this week and they did it right with a special set from Doorly & friends: MK, Justin Jay and Low Steppa. The club was packed with Monday Social fans paying their tributes.
The weekly get-together is a solid driving force in the LA music scene. Monday Social will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, making it the longest weekly club night in North America, possibly the world. Freddy Be, the eventās curator, has been running this project since its inception in 1996. Over the past two decades, Freddy has discovered many lesser-known acts and brought them to play at Monday Social who shortly after grew to become major players in the scene. He is also responsible for bringing many internationally acclaimed DJsĀ to LA for the first time. With itās long roster of big name DJsĀ who have come to LA to play at Monday Social over the past two decades, the event has undeniable significance for music lovers in LA.
LAās underground music scene has had its fair share of ups and downs over the years. Sometimes the city is flooded with a wide variety of quality acts spanning different genres, other times there arenāt many options for those who want to go out on a given weekend. Monday Social is the only meet-up thatās stood the test of time and has been consistently holding it down every week for the past two decades. Amateurs can keep their weekends. Monday Social is a safe haven, a place where true music fans can come together without the pretentious egos at LA clubs other nights.
We are excited for what 2016 will bring for Monday Social. Project LA will properly set the tone for music lovers bold enough to go out on a Monday. If you arenāt usually one to go out on a weeknight, the debut event taking place this Monday January 18th might be worth breaking your rules for.
This week will feature &ME hailing from Berlin along with LAās own Anton Tumas. For more information on the upcoming Monday Social, visit our event listing here
