6AM Miami Music Week Guide 2023

Just a year ago, Miami Music Week graced March in 2022. Now, one of the largest week-long music festivals is coming back to sunny Miami for 2023. Miami Music Week 2023 will be taking place from March 21 to March 26. The week-long festival will feature a jam-packed schedule of club events, pool parties, hotel parties and so much more. Here is a running list of the massive events and performances you can expect during Miami Music Week.

RESISTANCE Miami (Multiple days)

Location/Time: M2 in Miami Beach @ Varied Time

ULTRA Worldwide’s esteemed underground concept RESISTANCE is heralded as the most international house and techno festival brand, boasting active events on all six inhabited continents. Following three banner years in Ibiza, Ultra announces its launch of RESISTANCE’s inaugural US club residency in the festival’s beloved hometown of Miami Beach. RESISTANCE Miami will transport the fully-immersive Ibiza clubbing experience to America for the very first time at M2, the newly-minted nightclub in the heart of the Art Deco District.

SUNDREAM PRESENTS: ROSE AVENUE RECORDS SHOWCASE

A showcase of Rose Avenue Records talent curated by superstars RÜFÜS DU SOL. The electronic band is now one of the biggest live acts in the world, selling out some of the country’s biggest venues like The Gorge, Red Rocks, and LA’s Hollywood Bowl on their recently wrapped Surender tour, a Grammy win for last year and double nomination this year, and ARIA win in Australia. The band also announced two weekends of Sundream Baja in May, their four-day immersive destination event full of parties, wellness activities, art installations, intimate DJ sessions, and live performances from some of the Grammy-award-winning band’s closest kin and inspirations.

Cassian is a live electronic musician currently based in Los Angeles. An accomplished producer, DJ, and mixing engineer, he has cemented his name as one of the most versatile talents to emerge from Sydney’s flourishing electronic scene. In 2018, Cassian became the first artist on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s imprint Rose Avenue, where he released buzzing singles “Lafayette”, “Same Things”, and “Magical” with ZOLLY (Phil Slabber of Crooked Colours). A respected and seasoned performer, Cassian has played for tens of thousands alongside the likes of Hayden James, Dom Dolla, and RÜFÜS DU SOL, while also selling out headline shows at NY’s Elsewhere, debuting at London’s Printworks, and commanding festival sets at Coachella and Life Is Beautiful. Off the back of Cassian’s debut album LAPS, his catalog has grown with releases on Afterlife, Future Classic, Solotoko, Foreign Family, and more, with an upcoming collaboration with ANYMA (of Tale of Us) due out in March.

BLACK BROTHER BLACK SISTER SHOWCASE

Heralded by The New York Times as an ‘Up Next’ talent, female house, and techno producer/DJ HoneyLuv is one of the hottest DJs breaking through on an international level. In just three short years, HoneyLuv has become an essential figure in a new generation of Black artists shaping the sound of dance music, from being named by Billboard as aDance Artist to Watch’ and by BBC Radio 1 Dance as a ‘Future Star’ to earning a spot in Beatport Next’s Class of 2023. A former Navy drone operator, HoneyLuv is now captivating live audiences on festival stages like Coachella and Outside Lands with her futuristic, deep-tech sound. In 2022, HoneyLuv released her breakout single ‘365’ on Chris Lake’s Black Book Records, which was named a BBC Hottest Record In The World, and ‘Sway’ with Dope Earth Alien via Insomniac Records. This year, HoneyLuv will continue to dominate clubs and festival stages around the globe, with performances at Tomorrowland, EDC Mexico, Hangout Music Festival, FVDED In The Park, and Fisher’s inaugural Triip Festival in Malta.

The Epic Pool Parties are an essential part of any Miami Music Week experience and they are back with a bang from March 22 – March 26, 2023. Playing the super five-day series at South Beach’s luxury hotel The Sagamore will be familiar friends and influential brands Defected DJ Mag and Nick Warren‘s The Soundgarden with more to come. Haitian-born and raised producer and DJ Francis Mercier is one of the most significant acts in the dance music scene, he is often referred to as “the next Black Coffee”. Garnering 15M+ streams across his catalog, Francis brings together African and Caribbean artists & sounds in a unique way that has never been done before in underground dance music. Francis’s music is consistently spun by luminaries such as Diplo, Black Coffee, RUFUS DU SOL, Tiesto, Pete Tong, and more. His highly coveted performance slots at EDC, Pacha Ibiza, Tulum’s Zamna, and even Formula 1 in Montreal, have captivated audiences across the globe. New York-based for over a decade, Francis’s sound has also reached such far-flung locales as Nairobi, Beirut, Morocco, Capetown, and Dubai, where he regularly performs to sold-out dancefloors. Francis is constantly on tour while at the same time running his own label Deep Root Records, one of the few 100% black-owned dance labels.

CLOZEE @ ULTRA

A purveyor of lucid sounds, French producer Chloé Herry is a worldly and rhythmic figure in the electronic music atmosphere. Now based in Denver, CloZee has made a name for herself transcending the usual curves of bass music and evoking a spiritual and evolutionary sound. In 2018, CloZee unveiled her debut offering Evasion, a 10-track genre-bending album that cemented her as one of electronic music’s modern visionaries. In 2020, CloZee started a new journey with the launch of her own artist-friendly label, Odyzey Music, where she’s devoted to highlighting the underground sounds and underappreciated artists of bass music and beyond. With the inception of Odyzey Music, CloZee released her highly anticipated album Neon Jungle, which later saw official remixes by Lane 8, Opiuo, and Emancipator and was followed by her Nouvelle Era EP in 2021. Her catalog is sprinkled with hypnotic collaborations alongside the likes of GRiZ, Liquid Stranger, Ganja White Night, Of The Trees, and Maddy O’Neal. This year, CloZee is set to perform at Ultra, Lollapalooza Paris, Envision Festival, and more.

REZZ @ ULTRA

From her 2015 debut on Skrillex’s label OWSLA to the 2022 launch of her own imprint, Isabelle Rezazadeh aka Rezz has amassed millions of streams, headlining slots at major festivals, and sold-out shows across the globe. Rezz released her first single through RCA Records, Someone Else, in 2020 followed by Hypnocurrency, her single with deadmau5. Most recently, Rezz released her third studio album, Spiral, in 2021, venturing into the realms of indie, pop, and rock, featuring collaborations from female vocalists Dove Cameron, Emily Haines of Metric, and more. Now with Nightmare on Rezz Street 2, she makes a return to the heavy, hypnotic sound that first established Rezz as a household name in the dance music space. Rezz will kick off 2023 in a big way headlining the LED Anniversary event at San Diego’s Petco Park on February 24 and playing the main stage at Ultra Music Festival Miami on March 24.

A staple of the underground and champion of the avant-garde, Damian Lazarus’ Get Lost Miami is a 24-hour-long journey in sound, testing the limits of even the most hardcore party people and challenging the ever-commercialized Music Week programming. This year Get Lost will return to Factory Town in Hialeah to host 90+ artists spread across seven stages, creating a mad circus experience in celebration of twenty years of Lazarus’ seminal Crosstown Rebels label.

On Saturday, Oasis Wynwood is hosting an absolutely legendary pair of parties. On the main stage, A-Trak brings together a lineup like no other to celebrate Fool’s Gold’s 15th anniversary: Trizzy himself is going B2B with The Magician, Dombresky is playing a Disco Dom set, along with legends Junior Sanchez, Melé (UK), Falcons, and HoneyLuv B2B Hank K. And in the Huacachina room, Goldie (yes, Goldie) is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Metalheadz with Photek, Doc Scott and more. The fact that this party is FREE is just unbelievable.

MATHAME @ ULTRA

Brotherly Italian and melodic techno production duo Mathame are the fastest rising melodic techno act of the moment – selling over 170,000 tickets to headlining shows already this year, playing key gigs like Space Miami, Brunch in the Park Barcelona, EXIT Festival, Awakenings, EDC et al. Over the last 18 years, house and techno tastemaker Claude VonStroke has curated the next generation of underground artists with his iconic independent label Dirtybird Records. Developing a loyal following since its creation in 2005, Dirtybird has become synonymous with the left-of-center sounds and off-kilter rhythms found amidst its catalog boasting hundreds of releases and on the stages of their beloved events, like Dirtybird Campout and Dirtybird BBQ. From their Birdhain club in the Birdyverse to the airwaves of Dirtybird Radio, their heavy heaters and deep cuts can be heard around the globe. This year, Dirtybird Records is set to take over Ultra Music Festival’s Resistance Cove stage on Sunday, March 26th.
