The worldâs largest trade-only event for the music products industry is set to become bigger as the 2018 NAMM Show is going to be held at a larger campus.
This annual event, hosted by the nonprofit organization National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), showcases a variety of music products, as well as the pro audio and event technology industries, from 139 countries and regions, is highly anticipated by exhibitors and attendees. It will be held from January 25th to the 28th at the largest expanded campus in the showâs history in Anaheim, California.
In addition, the Showwill take on a new look in the form of communities across the show floor, which includes expanded event technology and pro audio areas; a new building to be added which is the Anaheim Convention Center North (ACC North); as well as a new education and professional development campus which is to be located now at the 4 floors of the Hilton Anaheim, curated by a variety of industry leading experts in their respective fields.
To give an idea on the largeness of scope the 2018 NAMM Show is offering, a map has been released as a guide for exhibitors and attendees as to what to expect. But to give a quick preview, the venue will feature a platform for the product communities of stringed instruments, school band and orchestra, fretted instruments (acoustic and electric), percussion, keys (pianos, keyboards and synthesizers), pro audio and sound, stage and lighting, as well as distributors, publishers, retail services and many more. You can access the map right here.
Apart from the exhibits and product demonstrations, pro audio and sound professionals can take advantage of additional learning courtesy of the Audio Engineering Societyâs AES@NAMM Prosound Symposium: Live and Studio, by itself a new platform introduced for NAMM 2018. Event tech education, such as in the areas of lighting, stage and production will be among the themes in a robust schedule curated by Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA) and experts from Lighting and Sound America, Stage Directions, Front of House, Projection Lighting and Staging News magazines.
In the evening, the NAMM Show will offer plenty of networking opportunities through events such as the newly-announced NAMM Parnelli Awards on January 26. This award will serve to honor the pioneers, influential professionals, and companies and their contributions to the live production industry. Among this year’s honorees are Billy Joelâs long-time Production Manager, Bobby “Boomer” Thrasher, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Lighting designer and innovator Jonathan Smeeton will receive the Parnelli Visionary Award; and DiGiCo technical director John Stadius will be honored with the Audio Innovator Award.
Other events to be held during the 4-day event are the pro audio and sound recording favorite NAMM TEC Awards to be held on Su concerts on The Grand Plaza Stage, and a host of other interactive events and opportunities.
