A small slice of Ibiza arrived on the sunny shores of southern Thailand with the opening of Baba Beach Club in October of last year, a luxury lifestyle hotel for music lovers created by the owners of renowned luxury resort Sri panwa and powered by an impressive Funktion-One sound system, making it the most powerful in all of Asia. The beach club is just 20 minutes north of the Phuket International Airport and offers direct access to the unspoiled white sand Natai Beach thus boasting sublime sunsets and spectacular views of the Andaman Sea.
The owner, inspired by summers spent in the Mediterranean, created an opulent and open concept beach club where palatial villas and ÂÂsuites surround the pool area and its occupants become one with the beach club vibe. The line-up has so far seen names like Nicole Moudaber together with BE-AT.tv, Be Svendon, Maxxi Soundsystem, Shaded and Yokoo as well as collectives like Colours of Love, Neverest, and Die Empathie as well as Wonderfruit Decompression.
âIf we had built a traditional hotel, it would have been boring but a luxury Ibiza-style beach-club themed hotel is a totally different experience and exciting for Thailand. We are essentially trying to create product that is fun and challenges the norm,â says Babaâs managing director and owner, Vorasit âWanâ Issara. âWe donât want a spa getaway or a place to chill out, Thailand already has plenty of those. We wanted a theme that was upbeat and centered around music.â

As high season approaches, the Baba team is hard at work carefully curating its winter program which includes partnerships with Balearic beach clubs, world famous house and techno talents, global livestreaming platforms and regional clubs and festivals to offer week after week of unique parties, events and decompressions. What has been dubbed the best in Asia by Mixmag, Baba Beach Clubâs pool area boasts an impressive sound system powered by Funktion-One with rooms and its villas are outfitted with by either a Bose or Marshall Audio sound system. Sergei Smykalov, Babaâs music director, carefully curates the beach clubâs extensive playlist for every mood on iPods and iPads that are found in every room throughout the hotel as well as the beach clubs SoundCloud and Spotify accounts.
