JC Laurent‘s music is a journey that transcends mere sound; it’s an immersive experience that transports listeners to alternate realities. His productions are a seamless fusion of intricate rhythms, hypnotic melodies, and meticulously crafted soundscapes. Whether it’s a dark and brooding warehouse track or an ethereal exploration of ambient techno, Laurent’s versatility shines through, showcasing his ability to manipulate sonic elements to evoke emotions and stimulate the mind.
His label Cielo Records is now releasing the third EP from its leader JC Laurent, and this follows his appearances on the likes of Jewel Kidâs Alleanza and Coyuâs Suara. Titled âDesert of Lightâ it contains four epic techno tracks that have gained support from established artists such as Truncate, Noneoftheabove, RĂždhĂ„d, Ă [Phase], Shifted and A.Paul to name only a few.
The opening track being the title itself, has a hypnotic and subdued style shaping visions of darkness and soul-searching introspection from ethereal, analogue undertones. âTFTSTWâ is a sidestep into a more chugging style of techno, with a feeling of urgency from the fast percussion and experimentation of beat patterns.
Following on is âConflict Attenuatorâ that is a heavy and percussive exploration. The driving sound of the kick is omnipresent, yet has breakdowns with a tribal drum and mesmerising tones that make it a mix of melodic excellence and IDM genius.
Closing the EP with âPalatizationâ it has an unconventional approach to its percussion with metallic hits and what sound like either underwater animal calls, or jungle samples of bird whistles in the distance that make a mark on the psyche.
