The desire to give people have a good time, with a party carefree atmosphere. His way of composing makes his tracks dancefloor optimized, rather than everyday tunes.
Known for his fun and funny personality and very positive vibes, shotgunweddings music is described as Tech House with a strong bass and beat, including some vocals and signature snares of the House genre. To date, he’s released music on record labels such as World Sound, Whore House, Nite Records and Twists Of Time.
With a couple new tracks loaded in the barrel, shotgunwedding turns the safety off for a chat with SIX AM.
Welcome to SIX AM shotgunwedding! Howâs it going?
Everything is great, I just returned from 3 weeks of partying in Europe. I had a release party in Jerez de la Frontera with a very good DJ, Manuel 2Santos. We released a Spanish Tech House track together. Iâm headed back overseas in June to celebrate the release of âClubs, Drugs, Pubs, & Partiesâ and âMake My Brain Dance Tonightâ. Both coming out on Brash Beats (UK).
You have quite the interesting moniker, how did you come to find your alias âshotgunweddingâ?
Didnât want it too goofy, didnât want it too serious. All of a sudden, itâs shotgunwedding.
Being from Nashville, Tennessee, how did you find yourself getting into house music? Whatâs the rave scene like out in the South?
From what I hear, Nashville actually had a good rave scene in the late 90âs. A few years back I met a guy who promoted raves under the name King Funk and he introduced me to house music and I was hooked.
Nashville may not be the first city that comes to mind when you think of house music, but itâs coming. The people want it, they want to dance late into the night and Iâm happy to see promoters throwing more and more events.
You portray yourself as a carefree, funny guy that just wants everyone to have a good time. How do you feel your attitude differs from other DJâs in the scene? How does that attitude carry over into your music and your sets on the dance floor?
Have a good time all the time. Thatâs the rules. My attitude when I DJ is that Iâm coming to have fun so you better be too. I donât care if 4 people show up or 400, Iâm going to give my best performance and have fun doing it.
Youâve released music on labels such as World of Sound, Whore House, Nite Records and Twists Of Time, and most recently have released two new tracks on Beatport âDonât Eat Hadleyâ and âJust To Blow Your Mindâ, which is no small feat. Where would you like to take your music in the future? What are some of your aspiring goals as a producer?
Just keep making bangers. As far as goals, I just want people to nod their head to the beat when they hear my music. I would love to release tracks on big labels, but itâs more about the individual listeners enjoying themselves when they hear one of my tracks in a set. I always see my music getting Shazams from all over the world and I donât know where or how my tracks are being played but itâs cool knowing people Iâve never met are out there letting it rip.

âThe Golden Doorâ and âDirty Little Secretâ are some of the places youâve played in the US so far. Where are some places that youâd like to play at in the near future? And where do you see yourself playing in 5 years from now?
Miami and Chicago are on the top of the list for the near future. Chicago is the birthplace of house music, but 5 years from now Iâd like to be playing festivals in Europe. Having the sun come up and the crowd still dancing is a connection that only music can bring.
