Canadians knew exactly where to ring in the Canada Day holiday this year, as thousands boated over to Hanlan’s Point for another sold-out edition of Electric Island. The roaring heat didn’t appear to phase the many smiling, red & white painted faces, as music-lovers bopped about the dance floor. From start to finish, the energy was truly electric!
Heading into next month, Electric Island has announced their August edition. Festival-goers will be pleased to hear that this year’s event will not hinder your long weekend plans, as it will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2018.
Calling upon a diverse range of sounds; from bumping tech-house, to deep minimal flavors, your ears will be drenched in aural delight! Kicking things off on the main stage will be two of Toronto’s household names Jonathan Rosa and Sydney Blu, along with a special b2b from tech house tastemakers Latmun and Detlef. As night begins to fall, Dirtybird artist Shiba San will play out his iconic blend of hip hop, soul and house. And last, but certainly not least, we give a very warm welcome back to someone who has become somewhat of an Electric Island resident; the one and only Curtis Alan Jones aka Green Velvet. The main stage will see support from local female duo Carrera & Tavares.
The Moog Audio Stage will offer festival-goers an alternative sound-base, welcoming the likes of Canadian Juno Award nominee Noah Pred, and the deep, sexy grooves of Moscow Records and Moss Co. label owner Archie Hamilton. Also manning the decks will be a true veteran amongst the Canadian underground scene, ADDY, as well as techno titan and Social Experiment Records artist Greg Gow. Supporting this lineup of exceptional talent will be Aaron Santos going b2b with Cosmic JD.
