Premiere: HOUSEKEEPING Records Founding Member Jacobi Releases Scintillating “Mugabe Out” EP

We are proud to premiere the next release from HOUSEKEEPING founding member Jacobi, the scintillating Mugabe Out EP released on 8 June.

“Mugabe Out” is an exhilarating opener with frenetic drumming, combined with twisted, atmospheric tribal chanting that keepings building to an energetic finale.

“How Areq” is a deep and driving cut, with cleverly layered percussion, synths and dreamy chanting conjuring up late balmy nights and showcasing musical styles from across Africa and the Middle East.

Closing track “God Luck and Good Speed” takes the EP into darker territory, with its glitchy, chopped up vocals alongside distorted synths to make for a truly unique and hypnotic cut that is perfect for peak-time dance-floors.

In Jacobi’s own words:

“The EP was inspired by my deep love for African rhythm. The name of the EP came as I wrote the tracks which was the week many of my Zimbabwean friends were celebrating the dictator Mugabe stepping down and the opportunity that lay ahead for the country. The lead track is inspired by my love of trance driving baselines slowed down to a tech house bpm.”

This is an exciting time for HOUSEKEEPING who have embarked on their weekly residency at Black Coffee Saturdays at Hï Ibiza from the 26th of May, running until the 6th of October. The label will playing weekly at Room 2 every Saturday alongside such artists as AudioFly, Serge Devant, Hector, SecondCity, Eli & Fur, and Matthias Meyer, and many others.

Track List:

1. Jacobi – “Mugabe Out”

2. Jacobi – “Hov Areq”

3. Jacobi – “God Luck and Good Speed”
