Life is full coincidences, we know, but none could have been sweeter for Seth Roger and The Lonely Island.
The famous Hollywood actor took to his Twitter this past Friday to announce his forthcoming movie about a festival that goes “horribly wrong,” perfect timing considering the media frenzy surrounding the incredible fail of Fyre Festival in the Bahamas over this past weekend. The world’s social media networks, blogs and even mainstream news all covered what was possibly the biggest  music festival failure and cultural meltdown in recent history, with celebrities and other non-industry heavyweights weighing in with their thoughts, opinions and troll/jokes on social media.
This was followed by Fyre Festival co-founder Billy MacFarland coming on record with an apology, describing it as the “worst day of his life.” Ja Rule, the other founder of Fyre Festival, stuck with a short uninspired Twitter “apology” and nothing less.
This seems like a good time to mention the movie we are making with @thelonelyisland about a music festival that goes HORRIBLY WRONG.

Seth Rogan’s announcement was followed up by a confirmation tweet by The Lonely Island â composed of comedians Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer â which you can read below.
For real, thinking about suing #FyreFestival for stealing our idea. https://t.co/uiLxhzLg85

While no more information is available on the project right now, one thing is for certain: the recent #fyrefestival debacle has given the movie’s writers plenty of usable material for the movie. We can’t wait to see it.
