Q&A: On Tour with UNER

uner live

We often see the lives of our favorite DJ’s from the perspective of DJ booths, event galleries, and the occasional airport photo. But in between the clubs and fast paced life there are some great moments captured that don’t always make it to the public spotlight.

UNER, one of our favorite Spaniards, has shared with us some pictures of his recent travels in the United States, and took some time to answer some questions about life on tour. Touching down in Los Angeles, Miami, and then venturing back to LA and San Diego, UNER makes the most of his time on tour.

6AM: Your trip to Los Angeles started by going straight from the airport to the event. How often does this happen? Haha

Too often, and also straight from the club to the airport, which is never nice as I don’t get to have a shower before, and I hate it! It can be stressful at times, but it all depends on the country I am in.

What do you normally do before a show when you have enough time? What did you do differently this time?

Usually, I like to stay at the hotel, work a little when I land to prepare for that evening, and then sleep. Showering before the show is a must so it looks like I have just arrived fresh, relaxed and full of energy. With this show, I only had 15 minutes, so I freshened up and went straight to the club, but it was a massive night, I love playing in LA.

Looks like that was a perfect post party meal. What are some of your favorite places to eat when you’re in LA?

I love many different organic restaurants in LA, but the picture was actually at the hotel this time. They have a great restaurant there with healthy options, the staff are very nice and it’s kind of “Berlin style”. I often stay at the same hotels so its nice to know where I am going to in advance.

Did you buy any of those Jordans?

I have to admit that I did! I love Jordans – I got the black ones. When I always get back from the US, I look at my shoes and think – one more?

Moving into Miami…

Is this your drink of choice for a party?

Actually I don’t normally drink alcohol, but if I do I’ll have 1 or 2 shots of Hierbas because it’s sweet and soft (not too strong). Also reminds me of Ibiza ;-)

What a stunning view! Where was this taken?

This was the view from my hotel room! It was the first time that I stayed there and it was beautiful. I always like to have a view in a room, a sea view even better.

These are really cool Star Wars helmets! Are you a fan?

I am a huge fan of Star Wars (All of them….not just the movies) I found the helmets in the lobby so that was a freak out moment for me!

miami1Where do you normally stay when you go to Miami Music Week?

I have stayed at a few different hotels; Albion, Delano and also some apartments. It’s nice to have an apartment like I did this time, as it was close enough to the center for all the madness and events, but still quiet to enjoy some downtime. It’s a home from home, rather than another hotel room.

Looks like you had a lot of good friends with you for this trip! What was the best part of Miami this year for you?

Everyone is always in Miami at the same time, so I have many friends all visiting the area together. It’s nice to always see them wherever you are in the world. I managed to hang out with everyone this year, including Boris and his team, Anthony Attalla, Joseph Capriati and some of my old friends too, friends from Argentina, and my publicist. What’s better than music and friends?

How long have you known Anthony Attalla? How did you guys first meet?

We met many years ago in Miami and later again in Ibiza, but we have become very close friends in less then a year. We had a cruise also in January together where I played the Incorrect Music Stage, and I have to say he is one of the best people I have ever met. I love Anthony and I respect him a lot. I am very lucky to have people like him close to me. I feel blessed. The next time we will see one another will be at Sonar in Barcelona, so I cant wait! (Love you – hope you read this Anthony!) Haha

Back to Los Angeles and San Diego…

Did you find any vinyl gems in that store?

I found so many!! It was so difficult to be focused on buying one when there was so much. I am back in LA in July so I will be heading back there to get some more old soundtracks for home.

Can you remember the first record you bought?

The first record I had was “Blue Monday”- it was a present from my father actually and the first vinyl I bought with my own money was ‘Crispy Bacon’ by Mr Garnier himself – “Red Carpet” and its still in my studio of course.

This is a very cool piece of art! Where was your friends art gallery?

Its in the center of LA, one of the owners is the man behind Le Jardin. I met him a few months ago, and found it so inspiring and impressive when you find someone with this kid of passion for art, and not just in music form.

Thank god for those kind of people who are investing in art for the world, and bringing new talent to the lime light.
